I'm surprised that, IIRC, only one person mentioned David Archer, the austistic brother of a Cerberus researcher made into the human/AI server as a way of controlling the Geth. You know, the person who you go up against and ultimately save during that piece of DLC?

Isn't it hinted that Chell is mentally challenged by the time of Portal 2? I mean jump and speak are not too related as functions.

Unless I read it wrong.
I think it was more of a joke about the effects of her being in cryostasis for an extended period of time. I remember the explanation about her not talking was that she didn't want to give GLADoS the satisfaction of hearing her complain.
This explanation was in-game, or it was from somewhere else?

Triple Post I guess...
Not sure where your actual post has gone, but this is what I received in my inbox: "I could see it backfiring and having people think it's mocking them."

That's a fair point, but seemingly anything can backfire and offend people these days. Besides, I'm a big supporter of game developers taking a few more risks with their work, and making it all more interesting as a result. If everyone just played it safe, it would get very boring and stale, very quickly.

Yeah I double posted after accidentally hitting the post button, then editing the second one without doing the captcha and assumed the site would just do a form of silent ban and not have it show up.

The topic at hand, I'm very cynical over people's reactions to such things, especially in these days of fashionable outrage. It would be neat to have a game centered around a retarded character and allow people to get a glimpse of what it's like. Now that I think about it, games centered around the mechanic of being deaf or even blind (no gameplay mechanics to replicate that are in my mind atm, just throwing it out) would be neat.
