Mercenary / bounty games recommendations?

Hi, some game recommendations would be grand (on the PC).

I find myself really fancying to play a contract / bounty-esque game. The sort of thing I always hoped Hitman was going to be where I fulfil a contract and make some money, have a choice on what I am going to do next. Maybe with a team?

Anyone remember wages of war? That was a bit linear but I wondered if anything like that was around now? I like the order of pursuing a profit.

I don't really fancy those games where I have to fight through an army of minions to get to a boss to get the reward. I never got into the assassins creed series but I don't think it has that open world choose your next target element does it? Maybe there isn't a game that can scratch that itch at the moment..

I guess maybe try Mercenaries 2...? That game was sorta good if I remember correctly and had a couple of things similar to what you're describing!

Mercenaries 2 and Just Cause 1 and 2 (especially 2) are the only ones I can think of at the moment.

I think I may have Just Cause 2 from a steam sale and never got around to installing it...

Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction. Lots of fun, lots of elbow room to decided whom to go after and how to do it.

Most open world games will have some kind of assassination deal as a side activity.Red dead redemption has a bounty hunting side game. Assassin's creed brotherhood (and most games after it.) has assassination contracts on the side that are basically the best part of the game.

Some great recommendations people. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Steam had payday 2 on sale so I have that with some of the DLC. Difficult finding a game but when I did it was a lot of fun.
I've installed JC2, see how that goes. I'll google Assassins Creed as when they dropped putting a number on it I don't know where that comes in the series.

I'll check out merc... which has reminded me of MechWarrior Mercenaries! I wonder if they made a sequel to that..

You should look into Drox operative as well. The game doesn't look great even on high settings but it is a lot of fun.
