"Yeah, Ma, m- Ma I told you I gotta go back out! I just came back to pick some stuff up! Yeah... yeah I'll get some milk!" Adrian called back through the open door as he hurried his way out through the back, not bothering to actually listen to his mom's yelling.
His private moments of quiet contemplation lasted all of five minutes as the moment he set foot in their apartment upstairs someone was on him to help out.
'Whata 'ya doing back from school already, Addy? You know how much those classes are costing me?' Yaddah, yaddah, yaddah, yaddah and all the rest.
It wasn't like he was ditching school for real or anything. Most people were calling it a half day on 'compassionate' grounds or something and he just knew that none of them were even metas or even knew somebody that was. At least he had a good excuse, y'know... health reason and stuff.
So here he was, telling home he was at school and telling school he was at home and generally just wanting to not be anywhere. Or at least off the street, this heat was getting unbearable. Adrian was already thirsty again, the drinks he'd gotten at the campus and at home hadn't done anything. Outside felt like a blazing hot wind was following him everywhere and inside was so close and humid he may as well have been in a sauna. This really wasn't his day. He moped along down the street when he passed by Old Merry's again. Well they were bound to have good AC right?
Or at least a lot of ice and a shortage of customers this early in the day, he could get something colad and a quiet corner to sit in. As good a plan as any.
Adrian pushed the door open and welcomed the cool shade that barflys called home. This'd work great, he could just take it easy for a while and - what the hell? Were those the same people from the campus? Aw great, just what he needed. He should have just gone but he'd already made it half way to the bar when he noticed them and clearly made eye contact with somebody. Damn. Social awkwardness meant he had to stick around a little bit now, right? He hesitated for a moment, considering the alternative of just turning round quietly, till he remembered what that ghost style girl could do and how'd she'd been earlier.
'Just... don't aggravate them, they wont even remember you.' It looked like they were all talking among themselves anyway.
"Hi, uuh, Can I get a coke - with lots of ice? Thanks." He asked the bartender.
'Eyes forward, hands on the counter, you aint looking for trouble.'
