Slipknot is the best band of its genre. Not going to continue this argument because I've done it all before and I'm sick of trolls.Eric_Autopsy said:Slipknot can go suck my rather large male genitalia. They are so overhyped and overrated.
Lamb of God on the other hand, they are awesome!
Therein lies the problem, no-one seems to be able to agree on what genre they actually are, which means the fans often infringe on the elitists territory.Akai Shizuku said:Slipknot is the best band of its genre. ITS NOT METAL LOLOLRusty Bucket said:This things sunk pretty low already. Does no-one want to talk about metal? I know there's loads of people on here who like it, so join in, it's fun.

But who wants to post in a thread that had been dead for over 2 months? I thought that that was frowned upon on the Escapist. I was about to start a new one until i saw you had "revived" it. So hopefully this one stays alive as long as it did originally.Rusty Bucket said:Update:
Thought i'd bring this back to keep other metal threads to a minimum. You don't need to make more threads when there's this thing to post in.
I think the accepted rule is around 2-3 months, so i was pushing it a bit, i'll admit. But i figured that it's a big thread that people enjoyed the first time so it should be alright. Plus it's not as though the topic of discussion is going away anytime soon.pantallica95 said:But who wants to post in a thread that had been dead for over 2 months? This is a pretty touchy subject. It basically comes down to elitism. Quite a lot of people (including me) got into metal through metalcore (a mixture of metal and hardcore, in case that wasn't obvious). The metal elitists hate all the -core genres, basically saying it's not metal. The genre's fans obviously dispute this, since the differences between the -core genres and 'true' metal are difficult to spot, especially when you're just getting into the music. I think it's really about the elitists believing that metal is mainly an underground, rebellious form of music, which was probably more true a decade ago than it is now. The emergence of -core genres has made it far more mainstream, which results in people talking about metal who have little experience of it outside of the -core genres, which the elitists hate. The Rockerfly said:Can someone explain this "True metal" thing? Whenever I hear someone say it I just think, "So what, does that mean my metal is fake?" Surely metal is metal, just because you don't like them doesn't make them true or anything
