Metro 2033 360 vs PC Versions

So I have a question basically asking what the differences are between the Metro 2033 360 and PC versions. Normally I would get it for PC as I normally do when I have the choice, being a good gamer. However, I'm going away for vacation in a week and will have access only to my 360 for that time, pushing me towards the 360 version. But if the game is much better for PC I'd rather wait than play an inferior version.

So what exactly are the differences? I know the PC version has better graphics, of course, but is there anything else? Is it much easier to play on one system? Does the control scheme work well on the 360? Are there any gameplay features missing in one version? Etc, etc.

Achem, bump.

Or is it a stupid question because few people have had experience with both versions of the game, leaving few people capable of answering me?

Google searches just keep turning up graphical comparisons. Are graphics virtually the only difference between them?

I believe that the AI may be broken on 360 judging by the review that Gametrailers did. There was a day one patch to fix the control scheme on 360. A good way to judge this may be to look at two review one you know has been done on PC, (try PC Gamer or something) and one that has been done on Xbox, (in which case the video review on gametrailers is a good bet.)

From what I've heard, there are severe framerate drops on the 360 version at certain areas.

The interior enviros look much better on PC, but then again, do you have a top-end card?
Do you really need it?
Afaik 8800 handles very high dx9 pretty well.

I believe so. PC Gamer has quoted it as being the new benchmark for visuals, knocking off crysis.

After getting my hands on it just today, It is fantastic. Really has such a genuine feel. You walk around the metros and they still feel like metro-stations. You can imagine how it looked before people took up homes there.

The combat is scary as hell. The Surface and the day does nothing but fill you with dread. The game is really great. There is so much to comment about. Like the psycho bits, or the great animation/voice acting in the "cities". The weapons handle great.

Ah I love this game.

And I know that doesn't answer your question. Coz I'm playing everything on low visuals, because of my laptop. Still its just great.

Why end thread? Do you think your opinion is the only one needed?

FPS's CAN work on gamepads...

OT: I have the 360 version, and it works fine

Those be fightin words my friend, unless you want to be branded a troll I suggest that you compare the two versions of the game on qualitative differences and leave the elitist rhetoric out of your posts.

I am a troll alright. Now say me with a straight face that you'd rather play an FPS on PC with a gamepad than keyboard&mouse.

He might very well rather play an FPS on a gamepad. You have to remember that many kids these days learned to play shooters on a gamepad

Can you imagine that? Say a kid with a xbox360, whos a good shot with the sniper in Halo, plays on hardcore Cod4 servers, pwns in Bad Company 2.

Because like it or not, and entire generation is growing up without ever getting used to the precise mouse aim.

There is no doubt that with a mouse you can aim better, but once you start to debate the pros and cons of mouse & Keyboard and Gamepad, beyond aim it gets very murky.

It's more and more relevant to discuss the controls beyond precise aim, because if you gave some diehard FPS gamers a mouse, they would be learning to aim all over again.

I will say though for the record having tried both the xbox controller and the Ps3 controller on Cod4 that the Ps3 controller is much easier and better, because the speed of aiming is graduated according to how far you push the stick. The xbox controller is less sensitive, being also two-speed - where it goes slow, then fast, and it can be very frustrating. I would see many people while playing quickly tapping the in a direction for precise movement, while on the Ps3, you only had to edge the stick.

Still I prefer Cod4 and all shooters with a mouse, but learning to play FPS games on CS, puts be at a great bias towards gamepads.

Recced specifications for Metro 2033 for PC has cards that arent even out yet. Make what you will of that.

Dx10+ aren't implemented well. I think it was just TQH's move, not really supported by devs.
Dx9 both looks and runs great.

I do have the GTX 260 and I trust I'll be able to play the game on the highest settings and it will be a visual orgasm on the PC. However it's not the graphics difference that bothers me, it's reports of more glitches and other such flaws on the 360 such as these:
Monkeyman8 said:
Oh and the 360 has horrible glitching.

I've heard it more than just the overal visuals, the 360 version has immersion breaking visual glitches, much worse animation and more buggy AI.
I don't know how common these issues are since a lot of people seem not to be experiencing them, but I think I might play it safe and wait to get it for PC once I get back from vacation. Though Splinter Cell: Conviction does come out about a week after I get back...

Also, Monkeyman thanks for reminding me about the book; if I do wait to buy the game I can read the book while I'm on vacation. Though no site seems to have it available new, and used copies seem expensive.

I also heard that the AI has messed up in the xbox version, although it doesnt seem overly bright in the PC version either...
