I don't know if it's done on purpose or not, but I like it. I liked the soundtrack all through the game though.

Personally I think if you were creating a sound for post apocalyptia, you would probably include elements like this. These people might not know how to properly tune a guitar, if they grew up after the war. Or as someone already mentioned, they could be using scraps they find around. Maybe pig gut would be harder to tune?
Yeah, it would be :D

The reason it sounds weird to my ears though is that the soundtrack is very highly polished and produced... the guitars are edited and have tonnes of digital effects on them so it really stands out when a part of it sounds musically out of tune.

Where was this track played over in the game? Just curious if maybe thematically that might have something to do with it.

Did you download the soundtrack then? I should probably do that.

I only heard the soundtrack over the gun shots and the creepy sounds of those creatures. And of course, my heartbeat. That game uses darkness very effectively.

But I did leave it on the title screen for a little while to hear the intro music. It's lovely.

It plays over the credits if you get the good ending. Hence why it stands out so much!

The music when you first go out into Moscow is absolutely amazing... loved it!

Reminds me of the Terminator 2 soundtrack.
