I loved it too. I found the atmophere good, had no problems with the AI, and like a guy above daid, stealth was hard but rewarding. My only complaint is that some of the English voices are annoying, bu hey, I can deal with that.

I love this game, the atmosphere really draws you in. The only proble I have with it is that you get ambushed by 6 or 7 creatures at once... not the problem until you realise the guns you have, at least early on, do sod all damage against these beasts.

That and I seem to get spotted in really random circumstances. I can make it into an area unseen, climb a set of ladders until i'm in the rafters, with no one else on my current level, in complete darkness, 30 feet above anyone on the ground sat in a corner... and be spotted from a mile away by a guy on a rail-cart who promptly alerts the others by shooting at me with his mounted machine gun... game over.

The stealth is frustrating but rewarding nonetheless.

I'm really enjoying it. Anyone complaining about the voice acting should try playing in Russian. It's so much better.

It's hard. You need to use the watches LED sensor. You need to take your time. You need to turn off/break lamps. It's hard, but OH SO REWARDING. In loot...
This. The AI in this game (at least human AI) is quite good. The stealth is fantastic. It's actually realistic. You have to depend on timing and patience. If you stick to the shadows they literally have to walk over you to find you which in reality is exactly how it is. And they traps are also smart and realistic. I can't tell you how many times I was doing a fantastic job of sneaking around remaining undetected and I got sloppy and stepped on some glass giving away my position. The only gripe I would have is that when the AI spots you sometimes it takes awhile for them to react. But I guess it would make sense because they think you're just another member of their group at first. Not to mention I have never been so tense in a game as when I had two clips for my pistol left and about 15 for the DLC auto-shotgun in the Library. Those Librarians don't fuck around if you make too much noise. It was so tense trying to sneak around them.

It's not the best game ever, but the game was hella fun. One of the few games that I was willing to pop in right after having beaten it to play it again. The game is tense on the hardest difficulty you can die just like that. Oh and fuck Ameobas.

I agree Russian is better but honestly, I don't understand some people's issue with the voice acting, at least in english. For English and Russian they hired actual Russians to speak the Russian, and English speaking Russians for the English. So people bitching about either are idiots. That is not some phony accent, that is how Russians speak. They probably think that all Russians speak like the token Russian guy in every movie. In English the voice acting is fine. The "accents" are fine because they actually are Russians speaking, not some actor speaking Russian or doing a Russian accent.

Oh God Yes To Hell With Librarians!!
i was shivering with fear because i ran out of ammo fighting those things. ALL MY AMMO, pistol, SVS, and shotgun, i had Nothing Left. Yet somehow i lived.
While i did 'kinda' enjoy the multiple defend this point from the snotelies and move on, there was just Far Too Many Of Them.
That, and I never got to see the Reds or the Nazis actually fight, anything but me. Sure they had apparently gone to the library before, thanks for that ammo friends, but still.

I'm still playing it and I'm very much enjoying it. The atmosphere and mood sucks you in and the basic gameplay is quite good. I prefer that it's linear because frankly I want a break from trying to find everything. When you get good with the stealth it's a beautiful game and I am not disappointed at all. And as for the story, it's classic Russian Sci-Fi, depressing as hell and very satisfying

*sigh*

I remember when linear was just as positive as non-linearity.

Anyway, I haven't played it yet - although I can't wait to play it so that I can be directed and just experience the narrative.

Also, you're complaining about enemies running out of your FoV? That makes no sense.
