So, Metro 2033 is being released soon on PC and Xbox 360 and one thing I have noticed is the lack of hype. I think we can all agree that too much hype can ruin a game, but public awareness of this game seems almost non existent.
I personally can't wait for this game, I pre-ordered it a long time ago and am counting down the days until it is released.

So Escapees, what are your thoughts on Metro 2033?

I'm thinking about picking it up after I've finished FF XIII.
By then, it should have dropped a little bit in price and should make less of a dent on my wallet. It does sounds promising but something about it seems a bit off to me. Like they'll release it and it won't be completely finished. I'll still get it though but keep the ceipt just in case.

If I see another game using a gas-masked soldier for its cover art, I'm going to think up crafty metaphors to express my frustration.

Seriously, can't we have some original cover art for once? I'm tired of games leaking machismo out of every corner in order to lure in video game nerds. See Heavy Rain, Mass Effect 2.

It's set in the Metro tunnels of Moscow after a nuclear war. The radiation has caused mutated creatures and stuff. Its hard to explain, but its a survival horror, FPS and an RPG rolled into one :)

I am looking forward to this game. It looks brilliant graphically and the concept sounds quite enticing, much like Condemned sounded when it came out.

Wikipedia has an article on it? But it's Wikipedia, so the wording may be weird? It looks like a good game, though?

Sounds like F.E.A.R., but using an "oh-my-god-we-still-think-nuclear-reactors-are-bad" mentality with some anti-communism and supernatural force thrown in.

From what i've seen, it looks like Fallout from Russia's perspective.

Not that i'm complaining.

I've been watching it pretty much since the very first hint of it's existance.
Needless to say I've had the limited edition preordered for quite some time :-D

I also got the hardback book pre-ordered as soon as I heard the translation was coming out here in the UK :)

I am also counting down the days. From what I read and hear of it, it seems to be exactly my kind of game. I just hope against hope itself that it will turn out to be brilliant, or, if not brilliant, as good as STALKER: SOC was when it was first released, and then can be modded to brilliance.
I read one review so far, they said it's absolutely terrifying, but let down by some clunky close quarters combat.

I'm very interested in it, the trailer was awesome.
