Metro 2033, your thoughts?

I read one review so far, they said it's absolutely terrifying, but let down by some clunky close quarters combat.

I'm very interested in it, the trailer was awesome.

Somewhat like Cryostasis then.

Doesn't matter, atmosphere makes or breaks a game for me.

I can deal with a little clumsy shooting if the atmosphere sucks me in enough (hence why fallout 3 is my favorite game...)

Especially looking forward to that whole survival in creepy atmosphere business. Too many post-not-necessarily-apocalypse-but-definitely-bad-shit games make you too strong and take out the pants-crapping terror I would logically associate with having to struggle in a freak-filled wasteland.

Its coming out March 16th in the USA and March 19th in Europe

It's set in the Metro tunnels of Moscow after a nuclear war. The radiation has caused mutated creatures and stuff. Its hard to explain, but its a survival horror, FPS and an RPG rolled into one

It's Fallout by way of STALKER. And stalker plays nothing like FO3.

Even if it is, if I can't cleanly remove someone's head with a crappy pistol it will be a better game.

It's based off a book from 2002, so not exactly. But the book was great so I'm expecting very good things from this game.

It looks really good from what I've seen. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was really good and they both seem fairly similar (iirc Metro 2033 was made by an off-shoot of GSC game world or something like that) so I'm really looking forward to it.

If the release date wasn't mere days after Final Fantasy 13, then I'd play it. But it is...so...It's gonna have to wait a long time, because Heart Gold and Soul Silver and Just Cause 2 also come first.

So, Metro 2033 is being released soon on PC and Xbox 360 and one thing I have noticed is the lack of hype. I think we can all agree that too much hype can ruin a game, but public awareness of this game seems almost non existent.
I personally can't wait for this game, I pre-ordered it a long time ago and am counting down the days until it is released.

I think the game looks pretty interesting, and I'm very interested in seeing how it's accepted by the gaming community.

I'm reading the book at the moment, i'm about 200 pages in and really enjoying it. I'll definetely pick this game up as soon as i have money for it
