MGS HD Collection

Hey Escapist.
I haven't noticed anyone talking about this yet. I'm sure people must of heard. Just wondering, is anyone actually excited for this?
If you don't know, its a HD re release of Metal Gear Solid 2, 3 and Peacewalker.
Also, its being released for PS3 AND 360.

Well considering MGS 1 was the only one I was ever able to play cause it was for the cube yes I am increadably excited I even made a thread like this about it a week ago but I didnt get a single reply.

Yeah, although I've played it, I would have liked it too. But I'm just happy to be given another chance to play MGS3 again... IN HD!!
Peace walker is meant to be really good too.

Im just saddend that after all this time and this being a perfect excuse aswell that MGS has still not recieved a decent port to the PC also the fact that MSG1 isnt included seems like a real shame.

It does suck that MGS1 won't be in it, but I'm still getting this. What also sucks is that this is another freaking November release. What the hell, game people? Space this shit out some!

This is the kind of stuff you buy a console for. I'm very tempted to buy a PS3 just so I could play MGS3 in HD.

I'm excited as anything, I never had a PS2 (or a PS3 for that matter) and couldn't afford Peacewalker. To be able to buy 2,3 and Peacewalker in HD that I can all play on my 360 is a godsend. Totally pumped.

EDIT: I have heard vague talk of MG1 being not re-released, but entirely re-made and re-spec'd for current generation consoles, since the people at Konami didn't think that re-skinning the game in HD would give a player experience they could be proud of due to the leaps and bounds in technology since then. So, basically, MGS1 might be remade and released as a stand alone game in the future. I could be wrong, take it with a grain of salt.

Yeah I'm a huge MGS fanboy. I actually just replayed MGS 2. I have all of the games in the package but I'm still really excited to have an excuse to replay them. Also I'm anxious to see what they'll do with Peace Walkers multiplayer.

I understand why the first MGS isn't included. It'd take more than 1080p upscaling to make a 32bit era game look passable, and a complete re-do wouldn't be financially viable for a re-release compilation pack. But why not include an HD version of Twin Snakes? It was a remake of MGS1 released last gen, and wouldn't have taken any more work to upscale than MGS2/3/PW.

Twin Snakes, the remake of MGS 1, is pretty disliked by the fan base for it's over the top cutscenes. This from MGS fans, where every cutscene tries pours on so much melodrama it's like watching a sci-fi soap opera.

I thought Twin Snakes was awesome though. Its pretty much MGS 1 in the MGS 2 engine, so it plays a whole lot like 2, which is fine by me because that is, gameplay wise, the best game in the series.

OT: I will probably pick this up at some point. I love MGS2, 3 has the best story of the series, and I've yet to play peacewalker because I don't have a PSP. Also, me and 2 friends of mine do an annual MGS marathon, which means we can play this next year instead of the originals, play with some nicer graphics. And we can add Peacewalker to the marathon.

One of the reasons why I'm guessing that Twin Snakes isn't on this is because Nintendo has some rights to the game. Also, according to a tweet from Kojima, Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake are on this (From the MGS3 release). I'm probably getting this even though I have the PS2 versions and could also get Peace Walker on my PSP. I don't have an HD TV or anything, but I'd love to play the series on my 360, and the price is the same as the upcoming 3DS port of Snake Eater (My favorite in the series).

MGS 1 and 4 are the only ones I own, so it fits perfectly in my collection. I played a fair bit of 2 when I rented it on the Xbox... but I've barely played 3 at all and never played Peace Walker. I'll give Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 a go too.

If it was on PC I'd be all over it, not that Metal Gear was ever very well made on the PC but if it's going onto xbox as well they can't screw up the port that badly...
