I didn't find the fight bad, it was interesting, thematically sound and I loved the references...Ultrajoe said:I don't think the game was made for everyone. The average person could pick it up off the street and understand... most of it...
But it was a great big pile of pure gold-plated fan service and nostalgia.
And how did we love it so.
Did you or did you not find the final fight between Liquid and Snake unrelentingly awesome and somewhat touching? if you did, then this game was made for you, all others simply wish they knew about the awesome that this game truly was.
But I was hoping for something more like the battle against The Boss in MGS3, which is STILL one of my favorite final boss battles ever. I didn't like how the whole thing seemed to amount to "Press R1 to Win" or that if there was any challenge it came from the fact that the control scheme suddenly changed in the very last scene.
But overall, yeah, Gold Plated Nostalgia for the win, my problem with the ending was that two people who HADN'T played any of the previous games were in the room when I beat it, unable to find anything better to do apparently, and didn't enjoy the long exposition and extended farewells to various characters. One of them had never even SEEN a Metal Gear game before, so you can guess how that went.
