Well, as the title said, MGS4 is, potentially, not the last MGS. It's just the last MGS with Solid Snake. Link to article below. In the article, as always, there are more links.

I don't know... I liked MGS2, and I liked Raiden, because he's a bit more human the Snake, who always seemed to be, while awesome in many ways, a bit more then human. He seemed just too good at what he did, even with his capture in MGS. Part of what made MGS2 great, however, is how Snake was helping Raiden out, and teaching him little things. If Snake is gone, then who know's if it would be as good... I'd still give it a chance, though.

eh...we still got the Naked Snake saga and Solid Snake can have games that take place before MGS4 made. Or they can have another Big Boss clone that is tough and like Solid.

Or, you know they could give us a Russo Swerve and say that Old Snake is really Naked Snake or wasn't Solid.

Really as long as the main character is still tough like Solid and has the same general gruff look, I don't think there will be much to complain about. People just didn't like the "pretty boy" Raiden. As long as they keep MGS's main character that gruff type, there shouldn't be a huge backlash

Raiden's biggest flaw was Rose...

Good god, Rose... shut... the... hell... up. I just wanna save. The hell you're bringing up "you know what tomorrow is?" when I'm trying to not get killed by a psychopath with throwing knives?

Meh, honestly, I hope/wish this is the last Metal Gear... conclude the story, let people feel like they've finally solved a mystery and move on.

Here's hoping that "Project S" with Suda 51 is a reviving of the Snatchers series!

Rose-"Raiden do you know what tomorrow is?"
Me-"The day I return this game?"

Yes Raiden is in my opinion the worst character in MGS2 and Rose didn't help
and another MGS game wouldnt be so bad in my case "Raiden Free" of course.

Well, that is true, but I don't think they would let us know more about Naked Snake (Big Boss). We really know all about him already, or, at least, enough to make him seem human, and not a monster. They would probably either make us play as Cyborg Ninja Raiden, which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing (Cyborg's=Win, Ninja's=Win, Cyborg Ninja's=Mind Blowing Win), or someone else.

Rose wasn't Raiden's problem. Snake had Meryl in MGS1 and that wasn't a problem. Rose wasn't a problem, it was Raiden being a whiny emo to all her sentences, which in turn pissed Rose off. Take out whiny emo part of Raiden and then we get less Rose talking.

I thought that MGS4 would be the last one that Kojima would be involved in. Still good.

I'm not even a fan of the MGS series and even i'm getting this game. This game will almost no doubt turn me into a fan. And I will no doubt have no f*$(^@% clue what the hell is going on. But that's what Wikipedia's for.

Good luck with understanding the Patriots' and Solidus's plans. MGS1 and 3 you can get....2...not unless you are a huge conspiracy theory guy. It's less military and more out there.

I already know a couple things about the snakes like

Solidus Snake was once a president of the US, how the foxdie virus is in snake, all three snakes are clones of Naked Snake, what the hell the Metal Gears are, and what the hell Liquid Ocelot is.

I know most of that would probably be useless, and that some people would already know that, but i don't want to risk it. Hell, if anyone can sumarize the MGS series just message me, that would help alot.

Damnit Metal Gear Hype is spoiler freaking tastic - I am never going to click a link with the acronym "MGS" in it until June 12th.

You are the complete opposite to me. I saved constantly too just to hear what she said and learn more about the back story between characters. This was on very easy as well so it is not like I needed to save.

As too the more Metal Gear Solids. Well it doesn't come as a shock, it is a popular franchise and I'm sure they want to generate more money from it. I don't blame them, but I really hope they make good games that do not milk the name for all it has.

It's nice to know that any display of emotion is looked down upon, I don't expect him to be all hardcore with his girl, it'd be stupid. The people who cry about MGS 2 and Raiden just don't make sense to me, there seems to be one crowd that just wants to engage in a homosexual relationship with Snake, then there are the others who just seem to dislike the fact that Raiden is not Snake and does not act like him. I really enjoyed being Raiden and I hope that I get to play as him for an extended period of time in MGS4. (I really just want to use the sword and kill that asshole Vamp.)

I second this - also, I think the main complaint with Raiden was that "he was a long haired pansy boy" - I didn't really see it, he just looked (and acted) like a "foxhound rookie" and I liked Raiden because of it, and I was surprised to find that pretty much everyone hated him because he wasn't "grizzled war-torn manly man with facial hair" snake. Which probably explains why they had to turn Raiden into an Ass-kicking Robot Ninja for the fourth one, otherwise Hideo Kojima may get too many e-mails about how "un-cool" Raiden is...

The ninja bit was probably a natural progression for him what with the sword play in MGS 2 and all. It's not so supriing that many westeners hated Raiden if you look closely at the games Westeners make and seem to like the most you find that the male characers are all grizzled manly men. I thought it was nice when you kill a gaurd for the first time and call Rose and Raiden seems genuinely worried about what she thinks.. Who can blame the guy killing some isn't usually sommething you would want your lady to see afterall. It's details like that, that really bring all of the characters to life.

I didn't like Raiden because he didn't seem as "Gritty" as Snake. He's a Solid (hur hur) character in his own right but I thought he was somewhat out of place in the MGS series.
Still, more MGS can only be a good thing, if they can keep up the standard of the games.

Raiden and his whole plot wasn't bad. It was just that he didn't fit. Raiden would be fine in a war manga/anime. But in a series already established as a bit darker in tone, he was just out of place. MGS has proven that you can have the gritty main characters still be like rookies and emotional (MGS3) and have it work. Raiden just went too far with the silky smooth perfect hair and all that. He looked more like a Jpop star than an action hero. MGS2 just went too far in treating him like a rookie.

Raiden having his own game in a different series would be fine. Raiden having a different look and still be in MGS2 is fine. The robo-Raiden in MGS2 would be fine. Just.....that MGS2 Raiden in MGS2 was bad.

Meh if you think about it Liquid Snake would look a hell of alot less "gritty" than Snake, just think about his body language. To say that somehow Raiden being pretty broke the games' internal logic is a bit much. There were far worse things in the game. (The whole arm possession bit really broke things, thank god they went back and explained it in MGS 3.) I also don't see how MGS was a much darker game in terms of atmosphere than MGS 2. I mean really with characters like Liquid Snake and Vulcan Raven they do not strike me as characters you would associate with darker atmosphere.

What Raiden doesn't fit is the "hard gay" motif that is so popular in the West right now plain and simple. (Not that the "Pretty boy" motif is any better.)
