The series should have ended at 4, it was a perfect ending. :/
yes it was, there is nothing better than finishing a game being rewarded with an hour long cutscene( or was it longer?)
you're the most sophisticated troll i've ever came across.
This

I loved the final scene, it wrapped up everything about the game. Whether or not it was a hour long (It Wasnt) it was brilliant.

But i agree; the story should end at the period of MGS4. If they dont, there will have to be a entirely new storyline with completely new characters and motivations. Which will either be a Clusterfuck that will only be known as "Not as good as MGS4" Or just ignored.

However, a fill in plot wouldnt go amiss; above someone said the period between Peace Walker and MG1 is a viable period of time.

I havent played through Peace Walker (The HD remake was only just released in Oz, and im getting through it at a steady pace) But it seems completely possible.

I still think that 2 was the best place to end the series. No, I'm not trolling; this is serious.
The complete mind-screw that was the ending of MGS2 was better unresolved. That was the entire point.
I can see what you are saying, but i would have prefered it to continue onwards.

In order for Konami to continue the storyline, they were forced to make (the excelent) Metal Gear Solid 3, just so they could continue with MGS4.

but if it ended at MGS2, then we wouldnt have MGS3 or 4, which are (To me) clearly much better than the previous metal gears.
