A new Metal Gear about the Boss in WWII would be awesome. I know it sounds lame, but I have an awesome vision in my head.

Or one filling all the gaps in Raiden's story.

So MSG5 might be a prequel? I'm not sure about that, I would rather have something totally different, still set in the MGS world, still a stealth game, but not playing as Snake.
Wasn't MGS2 panned by fans because you didn't play as snake?

If this series keeps going, they might as well call it Final Solid Gear: The Metal Fantasy.

All in all, wouldn't a prequel just be the Metal Gear bit remade? And a different world sounds like parallel universe, and that's called Fan Fictionia. And as Yahtzee said, they tied up more loose ends than an over-compulsive knot tier in a string factory, or something along that lie. Don't really see how this could possibly get anywhere without killing the whole franchise.

Interesting, but Kojima needs to let it rest now, and move on to about a thousand other things he could be doing, like a remake of Policenauts or Snatcher.

Him doing a Cyberpunk setting could well be a thing of beauty.
I agree, he needs to let it die.
Hmm i disagree. Theres still a lot of the MGS saga left unexplained, even though it was finished beautifully with mgs4. A game could be based around Raiden's mission, saving sunny from the patriots, or the 20 odd years of Big Boss's career left unexplained. Theres still scope for games, without Kojima scraping at the barrel. Unlike the Halo franchise, which sucked after the 1st one.

Oh come on, it seems that if any game goes past a direct sequel #2, it automatically means that they're "milking" the franchise and thus it needs to "die". Why is that?

Anyway, I'd welcome a new MGS game on any system or whatever. It still has some questions left unanswered and who wouldn't want to play as Liquid/Raiden/Solidus/Otacon?
Don't misunderstand Jumplion. I don't think so at all, but MGS has been a long and arduous road for him, and there have been 24 titles in all. I love MGS but with his skills, he could be giving us another masterful franchise instead, don't you think?
Ah, I did misunderstand, my mistake. With spinoffs, sure, kill those, but the main series (as well as a possible brand new series with MGS characters) still has life left in it. I'm reluctant to say "alot" or "a little" but you get the idea.

I do, but in your honest opinion, what would you prefer to see from him? An MGS sequel or a new game/sequel of another series, despite your belief that there is life in MGS yet (which I agree with)

Also I wonder if it would be a MG remake? That would be interesting.

The funny thing is that Kojima said he's leaving MGS series after the 4th game, so meanin' that the 5th game is gonna be made not under his super vision. So we can expect somethin' comepletly good or bad.
Of course it'll be "good or bad" (all games are) but I know what you mean here. Either it'll rock our socks, or make us feel like we're passing a kidney stone. I really think Kojima needs to do something different, even if it's one of his older games redone or something along those lines. Miyamoto needs to do the same thing.

I think it was more the fact that he was replaced by the Scrappy Doo to his Scooby.

Though I wouldn't mind playing as MGS4 Raiden, except without the emo poetry. Actually no, no Raiden. Because if we have Raiden, we have Rose and then we'd still have "Jack do you remember the day we met?" and that kinda shit nearly killed MGS2 for me.

Having a game about Big Boss being mentored by The Boss would be good, or possibly one centering on Akiba and Meryl (even if only for me being completely in love with Akiba.)

Metal Gear is a great game but I am kinda tired of playing a Snake, I know that sounds crazy. If its true then I would love to play as the ninja Raiden from 4, you know after his testicles dropped. But seriously I think I'm gonna have to start calling in bomb threats to Kojima productions if they don't get started on a New Snatcher. Think about the possibilities of a Snatcher game on the PS3. Hell, right now I would just be happy if they ported Policenauts to NA in English. I would even go out and buy a PSX to play it.

MGS is my favorite video game series I loved MGS4 and I would love to see MGS5 but Kojima isn't going to be the one making it that much he has made perfectly clear. And the latest I've heard is they dropped the SOLID in the name since Snake isn't going to be in it so now it's Metal Gear 5 or so I've heard it's all rumors really.

But the one thing that makes me doubt the hole thing in general is that MGS4 just came out last year so either they work very fast or there some kind of sorcerers then I thought maybe it's the upgraded MGS4 you know like MGS3: Subsistence or MGS2: Substance so I think that's a possibility.

I think the main question here, is that can someone actually carry Kojimas torch for the MGS series. Since if we remember when the Silent Hill torch was passed, the games didn' turn out so great aka Homecoming and Origins.

I getcha. The problem is not whether or not someone can carry the torch, but whether they can find it beneath the piles of narrative info dump from the first four games. Kojima's story is interesting and all, but the way he conveys it is definitely not a good way to write or present a story. That is, of course, just my opinion. I got tired of MGS's story after game 1, but enjoyed playing the second one, and then I just didn't care about the third or fourth ones.
