Michael Bay, iincase you don't know him, is a movie director known for making Bad Boys, and the Transformers films, as well as an executive producer for the new TMNT film, was assaulted for cash in a Hong Kong street.

Whatever you think of the man or his movies, I think we can agree that violence is never a good thing, even against polarizing celebs.

I'm just glad he is alright.

Hey, I've been beaten to a pulp and kicked in the face for my money in a slightly exotic location, where's my article? Or do these things just get around when they happen to A-list hacks?

Well Mr. Novgorod, if you were a psuedo-celebrity and then got beaten up, I would be the first to post about it <3

It's not surprising though, a few number of celebrities have been assaulted will out of the states. The status only marks them as targets out there.

Sounds like someone saw the Transformer films.

Wasn't Jackie Chan attacked in Hong Kong too a year or so ago? I might mix that up with one of the Rush Hour installments though.

"But it took seven big guys to subdue him. It was like a zombie in Brad Pitt's movie 'World War Z.' He lifted seven guys up and tried to bite them. He actually bit into one of the guard's Nike shoe. Insane. Thank god it was an Air Max, the bubble popped, but the toe was saved."

You're kidding right?
We're certain this was legitimate and not some stupid marketing ploy for Brad Pitt and Nike?

I was wondering about this as well lol. Who the hell speaks like that?

Thank God it was one of the well built Nike Air Max? brand shoes. If all the officers hadn't been enjoying refreshing Coca-Cola? beverages before hand, they might have been too hot and dehydrated in the heat of Hong Kong.

I presume when the attack connected with Michael Bay's body, something nearby exploded in a dramatic fashion and made him look totally badass?

Because if it didn't, reality disappoints me.

the attack was caught on camera but due to an excessive use of motion blur police are unable to identify the attackers

I cannot honestly say I see this as bad news. He'll live. I mean, I'm surprised no crazy has assaulted him already, with the junk he produces.

I may not really care for his movies, but I do hope he's OK, and no one, not even a guy like him, deserves to be extorted like that.

Kinda surprised he didn't take a swing himself, though.

What did he do thats so reprehensible that you have to use a phrase like that? Like he's the worst kind of human alongside rapists and paedophiles.

Please please tell me it's more than "he made movies I didn't like"

I think it might have less to do with him being a celebrity, and more to do with karma having to catch up with him some day for all the cinematic atrocities he's committed against humanity.

Does it really come off like I'm writing him off as someone that horrible?

I've heard that Michael Bay is a pretty cool guy, kind of like the guy you'd like to have a beer with, and that overall I wouldn't mind meeting him in person, but he seems to be a black hole where quality and talent in movies go to die.

Still, when writing it again, I do admit that the negative connotations implied were probably... too negative. I don't mean to say that he's an irredeemable piece of shit; hardly that.

The guy wasn't being extorted. Bay simply hadn't gotten all the permissions he required. The guys throwing punches were asshats but Bay was an asshat himself to go "well screw them, I'll film anyway" before that was sorted.

You don't get the local permissions, you don't get to film, no matter how much of a bigshot you are.

(Am a Hong Konger myself)

Michael Bay's not a bad choice to assault, but how about Uwe Boll instead? Michael Bay could direct.

I like to imagine that Michael Bay strapped explosives to a man, detonated it, and the man's detached fist slammed into his face. I wonder how they would charge a detached fist (perhaps for armed assault?)

Joking aside, a celebrity got assaulted by a madman wanting attention. Nothing out of the ordinary here.

I do apologise for reading to much into your choice of phrase I just usually hear it when refered to the worst of the worst so I made the assumption you were doing the same (and the guy seems nice enough, undeserving of some of the over the top hatred people lump onto him). I guess I just imagined a more hateful tone than you obviously intended, again I do apologise, I guess I'm just used to people on the internet being rather extreme in their opinions :p
