It's mostly Namco's fault, even if Microsoft did buy exclusivity. They have been awful when it comes to releasing the Tales games in English.
never said that i DID make up the whole market share, but based on cash-in of duty sales numbers i have to assume that most of the xbox audience craves games with token guitar signalling their rank-ups and generic brown and browner graphics.Arehexes said:Well you don't make up the whole bloody market share for xbox since I and my friends enjoy the rpgs on the xbox. That's why i love the xbox because it's so diverse. Also it's a smart move to do since most people see the ps3 as the haven of JRPGs (or wished they did, they don't have Lost Odyssey so ha).Azaraxzealot said:cue all the Microsoft haters (who spell it "Micro$oft) who just needed their daily dose of hating.
i don't even see the point of this, honestly, there are MUCH better titles to snag up exclusive rights to that fit the "xbox" audience (my audience) better.

Well thanks to assume about me, I can just play it on my sweet halo 3 xbox 360. I'll wait for the Tale of game being made of the PS3 to come out insteadgphjr14 said:Nope I'm quoting you and just adding that it isn't that big a deal since you can play it on a PS3 just only in Japanese, so its not too big of a deal.Arehexes said:I think you quoted the wrong guy I didn't mention the region thing, and I could care less I have it for my 360.gphjr14 said:Only goes to show how little most people care about this game. Its on the PS3 in Japan if you have a PS3 you should know the games are region free. Anyways back to not caring.Arehexes said:I think only 2 of the heroes are preteens, but yeah keep job assuming you know a game just because it's genre. Hope you enjoy playing games with rugged white guys being the heroes and the dirty unwashed is the villiansgphjr14 said:Oh Noooo now I'll never get to play this generic preteen filled JRPG.
Oh well
Guess I'll have to settle for inFamous 2 and an inevitable encounter with Uncharted 3
I'll give you a point on the first part haha (But next time leave out the "my audience" line since it implies you make up the audience or that is your said belief), but for JRPGs if you don't look at what is main stream and look around you can find some pretty cool ones. The Atleier series made by Gust is more focused on crafting then fighting (Most stories is you run a shop and you have to craft these iteams), and Reacctear on Steam is the same thing but it's more sim like running a shop. Any NIS game takes each game and has it play some what differently (Sadly most of them are SRPGs and only one is a JRPG), and Atlus tries to publish/make descent and fun JRPGs (Persona 3 is one of the JRPGs people feel is a breath of fresh air (that went stagnate)). But sadly that staleness I blame on Square mostly and any company trying to restrike the FF7 lighting bolt, I prefer NIS or Atlus for my JRPGs since they want to try to change it up (Hell even nintendo's RPGs out side of pokemon are f'ing great).Azaraxzealot said:never said that i DID make up the whole market share, but based on cash-in of duty sales numbers i have to assume that most of the xbox audience craves games with token guitar signalling their rank-ups and generic brown and browner graphics.Arehexes said:Well you don't make up the whole bloody market share for xbox since I and my friends enjoy the rpgs on the xbox. besides, the PS3 being a haven for JRPGs isn't necessarily a bad thing. those games haven't changed since FF7 (and the japanese games industry recognizes that).
the game was designed for the PS3, where as the games M$ makes exclusive are not designed for their system alone, they just want to make people buy their bullshit console so the consumer can play a game that is anticipated.Grey_Focks said:"Microsoft paid for the exclusivity the same way Sony paid for having Heavy Rain only on PS3. Funny, look's like Sony did the exact same thing. Also, blame the people who published the game for taking the deal to begin with, they didn't have to.
This practice isn't new at all, in fact this news isn't really all that "new". In fact I remember Namco Bandi said they took Microsofts money and used it to make a "cheaper" 360 version of this game and then did more work on the PS3 version. But Sony said it had to be really different from the 360 version.Murmur95 said:umm isn't this the same as a monopoly? shouldn't there be laws against this kind of thing?
and even then, i LOVE me some pokemon, and i only used "my audience" as a reference that i play xbox mostly. i've yet to play a 3d JRPG that breaks the "let's all be like final fantasy" mould, but if one came out without the turn-based combat (which i really don't like), the angsty pre-pubescent teens, and the generic "little boy family is killed, go kill they ass" story? then i'd be all over it. ESPECIALLY if it has giant mechs.Arehexes said:I'll give you a point on the first part haha (But next time leave out the "my audience" line since it implies you make up the audience or that is your said belief), but for JRPGs if you don't look at what is main stream and look around you can find some pretty cool ones. It's technically not a monopoly because Microsoft isn't buying out all the competition. They are just paying for a game to only come out on their system, it's just business. Sony and Nintendo do it too.Murmur95 said:umm isn't this the same as a monopoly? shouldn't there be laws against this kind of thing?
You don't know much about the game if you think it's like that. Story wise it's standard, but the characters are not angsty or act like pre-teens. The protagonist is a 21-year old who just lives as the mood takes him, he doesn't have any daddy issues, and he does shit when it needs to be done instead of talking about moral conflicts.gphjr14 said:Oh Noooo now I'll never get to play this generic preteen filled JRPG.

So yeah this is a 2 year old article more or less.
Yeah well I don't like the way Sony wanted Bamco do handle the game when ported to the PS3. Kinda screwed up seeing how my version misses out on some things (although a lot from what I read I can live without). Again this "news" isn't really new sadly *sigh*Murmur95 said:Oh I know that its not a new practice, I just think there should be laws against it.Arehexes said:This practice isn't new at all, in fact this news isn't really all that "new". Like I understand where a team might not want to do a port to a different console if they are not strong in that console or no market but having a company PAY a studio to not port it is bad business in my book and should be illegal.
