People like to scramble for reasons to hate companies, even if the company has contributed a shitload to gaming in general. If the company's big, there's someone who hates it, even without a logical reason. I must say, I didn't understand his post in any way. He basically said "So, old is being exchanged for new? OMG! THIS IS A HIDEOUS CRIME, NOONE HAS EVER DONE THIS BEFORE, EVER!"AceDiamond said:...I feel like I just got dumber by reading this. Seriously? You're complaining about them supporting Xbox titles far beyond the console's lifespan and finally doing away with it because this will allow them to bring more and better updates to the Xbox Live framework? Are you just reaching for a reason to be mad at this rather than thinking logically? Or is logic irrelevant.Once a Human said:Umm.. am I the only one here who remembers they did this exact same thing something like 5 years ago when they shut down support to all paying XBOX owners in favor of the new XBL for 360 owners instead? They then placated these poor bastards by saying some of their old games would still be playable, but not many, and all the ones they had just bought would have to be rebought along with 360s.
Microsoft are dicks. And they just fucked all their old school customers AGAIN.
Also the irony of someone with a Borg avatar calling out Microsoft is not lost on me.
And I am seriously going to need to rethink just how many ways I can question the thought process of the people complaining. Really now, they were never under ANY obligation to keep supporting original Xbox titles beyond the lifespan of it and now that they've decided that 5 years later is time enough suddenly it's a problem? Did you actually read what you were posting before you hit enter? You apparently think waiting 5 years to shut down that service was "just abandonment", and I have no idea how that even works unless you are Methuselah and 5 years is a mere drop in the bucket.Fredrick2003 said:Well there goes my argument.
I always said that Microsoft had superior online service because they didn't just abandon all online games like Sony did with the PS2, now it looks like Microsoft is going to follow suit.
So what am I paying $50 a year for exactly? If not to guarantee my ability to play Xbox games online?
I am going to need to seriously rethink my position.
No no no, you're missing the point. What I'm saying is that this isn't news at all. Microsoft already abandoned original XBOX games 5 years ago. I've seen that not a single person in the thread (at the time of my original post) didn't give two shits about this once and for all drop of Classic XBOX game support either.AceDiamond said:...I feel like I just got dumber by reading this.
