Five dollars just for buying an overpriced game I could get for cheaper without having to deal with your shitty fucking service? Suck my balls, MS. I'd rather Steam hold a monopoly on Digital Distribution. At least Valve doesn't wipe their dicks all over their customers.

Oh boy, this doesnt sound good at all...

First merge GfWL with the Xbox live, make PC play Xbox games, make PC a 360 with really expensive hardware, remove PC platform.
Why bother making a PC version of a multiplatform game, if the PC can run the 360 version anyways ?

MS manner to save PC gaming ?
Turn PC's into a 360 console and then MS can sell more 360 games AND still flog the office cash cow annually.

Haha.
Good one Microsoft, you should do standup.

GFWL is a bloody joke, I seriously doubt anyone takes that service seriously. Windows Live in general is a joke, they even ruined MSN with all the useless rubbish that's packaged alongside WLM these days.

Part of the reason GfWL is a massive pile of shit and a complete laughing-stock is that they paid no attention to tailoring it to PC gamers.

People don't want a unified fucking "service".

First thought: 'Hmm. Well they sell some stuff for £1. Fine, I'll bite.'
Second thought: 'Wait, 'US Only' OH FUCK OFF. WHY IS IT ALWAYS US ONLY.'

Not helping, Microsoft.

Games For Windows Live is the worst platform in the world. Just trying to sign in so you can actually play a game is a nightmare, and you have to do this from the main menu of the game you are trying to play. I'm not sure what it would take to entice me to use that horrible piece of shit, but five dollars American isn't gonna cut it.

I'm gonna go buy a sandwich and it's going to cost more than $5.

GFWL will always be terrible until a) they make a better experience people are willing to pay Steam-esque prices for or b) slice their prices to half or less of what Steam is. Until then, no dice.

Bafflingly hilarious, indeed.

It's very sad that 2500 sales is apparently an impressive milestone to them.

The merger with Xbox Live does nothing to help PC gaming or their service either, it just adds more confusion to the mix. It's already annoying enough when (on the few GFWL games I've allowed myself to buy) I have to look up help for the inevitable problems, and all they give me is information on the Xbox version.

How to save PC gaming:

Step one: Kill GFWL.
Step two: There is no step two.
Sure there is:

Step two: Win!
Step three: Profit!

OT- Yeah GFWL needs to get out of the way and die. I seldom get this annoyed about something but Microsoft has failed PC gaming utterly and constantly thrown PC gamers under the bus.

So let's see. Microsoft want me to part with cash to buy a game on Games for Windows Live?

I bought Dawn of War II through Steam, but GfWL didn't work, so I've yet to play the game.
I bought Arkham Asylum, and strangely enough, I never even needed GfWL (seriously, I was actually freaked out when it never asked me for the serial number).
And lastly...I'm not in the US! Why Microsoft? If they were giving away a game, then sure, I'd somewhat buy (no pun intended) the excuse of not having the territorial licenses, but they're giving away points to their own service. You still have to buy the game.

No thanks. I already have enough games that need playing. I'm not going to buy another that I don't want just to get 400 MS Points back.

Games for Windows Live always used my xbox gamertag. It was one of the (many) annoying bits about the service, since I couldn't play two completely unrelated games at the same time, due to both demanding (on different mediums) to access my account.
Yeah, I know. I'm always trying to play 360 and PC at the same time, but I can't because I can't sign in to Live from both places at once. Also more importantly, I only have two hands, so I can't work a controller and keyboard + mouse simultaneously. So I guess it doesn't even matter that I can't sign into Live on my 360 and PC at the same time anyway because it's impossible to play both at the same time.

Oh, I know! You enter your Windows Live ID and password once, and then it signs you in. And if you check the little box to remember your details, it signs you in automatically every time after that when you launch the game so you don't have to do anything extra. How terrible! How inconvenient!

Seriously, the completely nonsensical arguments people will come up with to hate on something by Microsoft. Ridiculous. GWFL isn't the best thing ever, but my god people.

You want me to sign up for another market-monopolization service AND it's going to be strictly worse than its competition?

Oh, but you're willing to throw 5 bucks in to sweeten the deal...pfft.

Microsoft, you spent the last 5 years trying to kill PC gaming by diverting the market onto your console. Why the fuck should I trust you now?

GFWL is the most atrocious on-line content management system I have ever experienced. When trying to play my copy of Bioshock 2 which I purchased on Steam I had to deal with GFWL needing my Xbox live account to save content. SO I tried to set it up, the first time I got halfway through the process, the menu crashed and I had to reboot the game. The second time... it crashed. The third time I got the account to work, but now every so often when I try to log in it gets stuck in a loop of looking for the account, logging in, and then asking for my login.

Another incident, I downloaded the demo for Warhammer 40K on Steam, it was GFWL. I installed and ran the game without noticing the GFWL menus anywhere, then my antivirus software comes and tells me "This software has a broken digital signature issued my Microsoft". My god damn antivirus thought the content was untrustworthy because it was GFWL.

Seriously Microsoft, get your shit together. PC gaming is not and never has been dying, it doesn't need saving, and your crappy management systems are not going to help at all.

I only have GFWL because I need it to play F1 2010 and GTA IV. Otherwise, I'd ditch the pile of crap.

No. I'd rather spend my money on Steam...

Also wtf are "Microsoft Points" and can you convert them into something eatable?
I hate services that have a fake "points" currency rather than just let me buy the game I want at the price I want, like with Steam and Gog.com and so on. Instead they have to treat us like fucking kids. But it's all a ploy to milk a few more pennies out of us and make it fractionally easier for them to manage accounting wise (one big payment easier than many small ones)

PSN is little better, I bought a game on there that had a real price but when I entered my credit card and wanted to play JUST that only it said "wallet empty" and I could only fill my wallet in £10 and £20 increments

FFFFUUUUUUU!!!!!

I'm continue to be amazed at how incredibly far behind all the other gaming networks are. It's like they are being run by nickle-and-diming amateurs!

Screw consoles!

They are not trying to save PC gaming, they are trying to make PC gamers pay to play online. Don't fall for this shit!

After my seventh xbox 360 died and they're refusing to repair it I think I'll pass on that.
