Nono, it'll work in tandem with the Kinect. Think about it. Real-time 3d body scanning plus an up-close display that responds perfectly to head movements. It would allow HUDs that respond to your hand movements in 3d space. Not to mention the possibilities for immersion. Though considering we still can't get two 3d models to interact well, I doubt they'd be able to get one to shake your hand, let alone actually look right engaging you in combat.
Next up on the patent list will be a 360° treadmill for full-range movement(they exist, but I don't believe Microsoft has patented one yet). Then, tactile suits for perfect feedback.
