Also escapist talking about annoying ads. Really funny with that new captcha system they have, that's soooo not annoying in the least.
What are you talking about? There are no ads on Escapist.

I watched the video until he said "And maybe I want to share this ad with my friends."

If you share ads with your friends they will not want to remain your friends you dumbass, everyone hates ads (barring the odd gem, i.e. Old Spice, etc.).

New and innovative ads just means that we need new and innovative ways to get rid of them. I've a novel idea, why not make ads actually entertaining to watch, we might be less apt to block them out if they weren't so goddamn inane.

No I won't join the pub club if that's what you're getting at. The way the escapist punishes free users actually makes me less likely to ever give them any money.

...who shares coca-cola adverts, or any adverts for that matter? (well... unless theyre hilarious... but those "identifying our target market" ads seem to have little in the way of humour... teenagers dancing... you seriously think that has any power to get into people heads, even those of your target market?)

...who wants to receive e-mails about adidas products, that you cant even read on the platform you asked it to be sent to you from?

...people who work in advertising confuse me. its almost as if they arent human themselves. would they want to share cookie-cutter tv ads for fizzy drinks on their twitter? really?
do they go home and wish they could find a dealership for a car they just saw on tv seconds ago so they can spend a huge amount of money on one without any prior research, and dont already know how to find one, or where the nearest one is?
theyre the same being as us, surely they understand that this isnt how people think... it baffles me :/
This x 1000

I've often wondered myself if advertisers are blind to the fact that we despise them with a passion. Do they live in an alternate reality to the rest of the universe.
Well advertisers and marketing people seem to have the guys in suits that there stuff works... so if this is the case my theory is it works on the lowest common denominator which is enough for them to turn a profit despite pissing the rest of us off.

This is ridiculous. They're happy that they've discovered a new way to annoy people. Didn't Extra Credits mention gamifying things like this? And what a dark, evil, wrong idea it is? Well, that. If Microsoft thinks its up to the task of making people HAPPY to have advertisements flooding into them from every possible outlet, good luck.

Yes, everyone enjoys adverts.

Like, really? Did they forget the part about people wanting to skip adverts as much as possible?

I have to confess that I have not been entirely honest for the sake of making a snappy remark. In fact, Escapist still serves Club members with banner ads. Blocking them is not difficult, but it irks me that they do this to paying members. :\

From what I've seen of the video, I think I can feel relieved that whoever came up with this idea was smart enough to make it non-intrusive. I don't even click on the ads on the dashboard, so I am very unlikely to even see this. It just looks like another case of "you can, but why would you want to" for the Kinect to me.

"Check out the great music in this coca cola commercial"
He didn't mention the music before he tweeted it so basically it links it to your twitter with some bogus headline to get people to click on it.

Lovely.

My partner and I were watching this video and, as two people who gave up TV seven years ago because of how sick we were of the ad-filled crap on it, we were just baffled and a little disgusted. "Who" we wondered, "would possibly want this crap?!"

Then I made things worse by pointing out that people watch the Super Bowl "for the ads". So there you go people. You now know this horrible abomination does indeed have a sizable target market.
