I don't think that anybody would have the legal ground to sue Microsoft seeing as ho several states tried to pass bills that fined stores that sold M games to underage kids and they were all deemed unconstitutional by the courts (at least in all the states I heard about). If anybody tried to sue Microsoft if they allowed minor to download M content would prolly be laughed right out of court. I think that Microsoft is doing this so they can appear to be "family friendly", which is bullshit. Stupid fear mongers like Jack Thompson scare Microsoft by threating to sue when they have no legal ground, so Microsoft is just trying to protect itself from the PR nightmare associated with them.

Long story short: Microsoft doesn't want you to lie, but they kind of have to force you to because of morons that don't understand that America has something called freedom of speech.

You can make a new email account and transfer everything to that account. MS points, Subscription time, everything. Its on the dashboard, i just haven't needed to use it since the XBL update, so I don't know where it is.

I didn't lie.

Imagine my shock, surprise and awe about coming on-line on my 18th birthday.

my friend had the same problem she just made one of those one month free accounts downloaded both thoses demos and just went back to her other account and played.

Ahhhh! That is called having your cake and eating it. Deadly I like it. but can you play on an under 18's account?

Fair play to the OP for not wanting to be dishonest on principle.

They're not punishing you for not lying, they're simply not selling you the stuff you are legaly too young to buy.
Just like liquor stores aren't punishing you for not making fake ID cards.
Maybe, just maybe they're just trying not to break the laws of some of the countries with strict age rating, and avoid getting into trouble, I know it seems a lot mroe likely that they did it specificly to punish you for not lying about your age.
Start realizing that the world doesn't revolve around you, and that not every action is taken with you in mind..

Before anyone goes ape-shit crazy, i think age restrictions on games are retarded. if you're old enough to make yoru own money, you'er old enough to play whatever game you like, and if you're not making money yourself, but using whatever you get from your parents, then it should be up to them to manage what you buy if they're the kind of parents who feel butthurt over their little innocent 15 year olds (who have prolly seen everything from donkey porn to gangbangs with midgets online) playing games like COD.

I changed that on the Xbox dashboard I think. Something about promoting your child account to an adult account through the account settings I think.

I don't see why lying about your age is so bad here. It's one thing if it actually hurt someone, but it doesn't.

Ever since my first "you are not old/mature enough to buy/download/play this game" moment, I have been 18 as far as the games industry is concerened.

Punishing you for not lieng about your age?
Its an age protected product:
Not of age, should not be viewing
If you deem it imorral to lie about your age to a computer system, why do you not protest about attempting to view / download things you are not old enough to legaly view?

Question. M games are 17+, that's seventeen or older. Not 18. What moron can't see the difference? Theatres do the same thing for R-Rated movies.

We have an Adults-Only rating for a reason. That's 18+. Same with NC-17.

You're not alone, OP. I have missed out on countless things as well. Most recently, the Bad Company 2 demo. I made a Silver account over 18, but you have to be Gold to download the demo.

It's not law, it's simply a guideline. Half my friends list is under 18 but lied about their age. I would have too, had I known I would miss out on so much.

Yea! Microsoft is bad!

They should have let themselves open for lawsuits so that you can download mature rated content!

Honestly Op, what would you do in their shoes.

You're not being punished. Microsoft is avoiding being punished. Still, you probably should have learned by now to lie... It is strange that an M rated game is now 18. Isn't it supposed to be M15?

I think it's ridiculous how some websites and such, for games that are mature rated, you have to put in your date of birth. Whilst Dante's Inferno didn't do this, and just had a box to tick to say if you are old enough, it makes me wonder who gets caught out by not knowing an old enough date.

though in this case i'm more worried about the fact you can lie about your age, then the fact that they punish you for not doing so. It should have some sort of regulation preventing people accessing content they are not legally mature enough to see.
