I'm definitely glad they aren't going to force feed this retarded thing down developers throats. However, that's basically the kiss of death for Kinect. If developers don't HAVE to work with it, they more than likely won't. Which means it will fail miserably, like pretty much everyone with a brain has predicted for a year.

As a meta, I really dislike the Amazon links in articles of late. If I want a product mentioned, I'll find it myself. You already got my publisher's club dollars, please don't beg for my affiliate clicks.

If the sales start to bomb i imagine they might go back on this. Then again i would hope if both the kinect and the Move hack lack-luster sales/ support/ reveiws they would have the good sense to abandon the great motion control copy-cat experiment. I guess i can hope becuase all i see are two gimmicks stapled to some shovelware and gimmick-ware.
I severely doubt that they'll abandon motion controls. They'll definitely try again in the next generation of consoles, to try to emulate the Wii. This time, they won't make it optional.

After all the money they spent on R&D and, advertising they're not forcing their production companies to incorporate NATAL-enabled games? Sounds very passive-aggressive. They don't have to make NATAL-enabled games. Nor do they have to continue working for Microsoft.

This is probably the best thing they could've done (aside from, you know: not doing it at all). Instead of getting really terrible games to start off from those developers, they'll mess around with Kinect first so we get only slightly terrible games to start off. Who knows, maybe Bethesda can come up with something awesome. One can dream, I suppose...
