hey, my name is Robert, I live in VA, 45 this year, still finding my way around the forums here-

just wondering aloud, are there many other middle-aged gamers on this site?

Cheers!

There's quite a few if I recall correctly though obviously it's certainly a small percentage. Myself, I'm 37 and still game. A broken wrist earlier this year has slowed me down quite a bit but I do it when I can. The problem is I can't go too long using a mouse or else my wrist hurts like a thing that really hurts a lot.....less so with a controller. I should get more stuff for the PS3.

Weeeeeeeeeeelll... depends how you define 'middle-aged'... =P

According to many of the brats around here I, a gentleman still in his twenties, am an old man, worthy of a walking stick or zimmer-frame. Consequently, you are, unfortunately, veritably geriatric...(!)

Beware the tide of youth beyond the boundaries of this thread... 'tis a frightening and horrifying, if fascinating, thing... -_-

Anyway, there are a few, though the ones I know are not as active as they used to be. Some stick to the IRC channel...

My twin @IndomitableSam and I just turned 30. I know that's hardly middle aged, but we're not exactly young anymore either.

We game quite a bit. So does our mother who's 60 now, she's the one who got us into gaming.

I'm 18 myself, so I'm probably going to be escorted out of this thread, but I might as well contribute.
I once read a statistic that the average gamer is around 35, so you're not alone. However, I can't say how many of them lurk on this site.

Seriously though, old folk can be fun to have around.

I'll be hitting 40 soon. This is a good site for it. There are obviously people around our age here and most of the kids here are mature and pretty wise too. These forums ofttimes give me hope for the future.
In other words feel free to speak your mind here. You'll get some good feedback and no matter how cray you are, nobody will judge you too harshly.

Well, I wouldn't start instigating genocide or anything but you get the idea.

Also, this site has some hilarious videos. Zero Punctuation is what drew me here but I'm now just as big a fan of Jimquisition (it's like the Colbert Report of video games...if the Colbert Report was hosted by Lewis Black) and the no right answer guys crack me up too.

Just turned 47. You'll find there is a much larger community of aging gamers than you were possibly expecting. And we're the ones that can afford all the good stuff!

I, too, am a proud 45 year old gamer. Although since I plan to live to be a hundred, I'm not quite middle aged yet.

Aaaah...I still remember the first time I put in the 3.5" floppy disks for "Ultima II" in the Apple IIe clone my Dad bought because he was too cheap to buy he real thing.

Good times...good times...

I'm 41, myself. It's good to know that I'm not alone in this community of pimply-faced adolescents! o_O

Atari, Commodore 64, and the scarcely known TI 99-4A. I remember when directing Mrs. Pac Man through the maze was cutting edge technology.[footnote]For some reason they never had Pac Man around where I grew up, just Mrs. Pac Man. That was after she'd gotten the restraining order, I guess.[/footnote]

Good times. :D

I'm thirty. Back when I was a teen, I figured that I wouldn't be playing games by now. It's kids stuff, after all, and I'd be too old for it. But the average age of gamers kept going up and up, so that day never came. It's weird, really.

Just turned 33 this year and have been gaming since I was 5 on an old Atari Home Computer. Honestly my father is in his fifties and even he pulls out his PS2 every so often to play some of the old RPG and racing games he has.

46 years old here, but not much of a console/computer gamer, it' P&P RPG's for me.
Welcome to the site, and get used to doing double-takes at what the whippersnappers consider "classic".
