48 here. I've been playing video games since they came around, on mainframes (the PDP-11), home computers (TRS-80, Atari), consoles (Atari 2600), and arcade games (I've still "got game" on Robotron: 2084)

I have no idea of the age distribution for gamers, but I'm glad to see there are a fair number of "old geezers" here. ;-)

35, so not quite middle aged yet. I rarely play videogames these days but I do like the site content on the escapist and podtoid, generally the humour coming out of videogame culture appeals to me.

I am now 30, and am the same age as the nintendo.
given that a few game console were available before and right after the nintendo, i wouldnt be surprised if there was a large generation of middle aged gamers.
Plus, they tend to have the money to spend.

I'm 18 myself, so I'm probably going to be escorted out of this thread, but I might as well contribute.
I once read a statistic that the average gamer is around 35, so you're not alone. However, I can't say how many of them lurk on this site.

Seriously though, old folk can be fun to have around.
The average person buying games might be 35. Because the average person who is 35 has children.

We're a minority, I don't care what the internet tells you. That's the beauty of being older than the internet by enough of a margin to remember life before it... It's not the fountain of eternal truth and ever present all-father that it appears to be to some!

@OP - I would welcome you to the boards but you signed up years ago.

Welcome back?

Happy You-Remember-The-Password day?

Anyway, Hi!
This post pretty much nails it. Most people our age have kids and it's their kids they are buying games for. Whenever people talk about gaming it's always in the same sentence with kid. Especially when it comes to women. Most women have very little interest in gaming past what their kids play. Our culture doesn't encourage the gaming culture. The masses are ignorant!!! Society will have to change further before gaming is socially acceptable.

Well I'm 21, soon to be 22. I'm far from middle aged, but I know I'm older than some of the people on here.
