I think that is bull. But it has nothing to do with an under reporting of when illegal acts happen between women and male minors. Also it has only recently that the authorities could be bothered with prosecuting it. There is less shame for male victims so it is less likely to be reported. Unless parents find out of course. But anyway just like binge drinking, give them time, women will catchup. Especially if people turn a blind eye to this behavior.

But anyway proves my point, long live the double standard.

I think 40-year old women being attracted to someone in their teens is just as skeevy as the gender reversed scenario.. I'm 43, and I prefer wine to Justin Bieber's grape juice. You know, something that has had time to age and mature.

That was the best comparative I heard about this subject yet

It's funny, because female pedophiles are generally attracted to their own sex, rather than the opposite.

There's more than one opportunity for a joke there.

Not saying it doesn't happen.
It's just not at that big a stage as we are with men.

My main point is to not care, as it will happen, no matter what we do.
People are just lust driven monsters, get over it.

As Bill Mayer put it in his new rules last week. 'Middle aged women going to see the new Bieber movie who are not taking their kids or reviewing the movie, should be put on the sex offenders register.'
That's a bit extreme. While I agree there's a double standard when it comes to old women liking young men vs old men liking young women, no man has ever been put on a list for watching Hannah Montana or Britney Spears (in her jailbait years).

As creepy as watching these young stars is when you're middle-aged, it's still a social stigma, not a crime.

Well, I can answer this for myself with a simple role reversal. If a crowd of lonely, middle-aged men were eagerly in line for the Hannah Montana film, yes I would be disturbed. Therefore I am disturbed by this too.

However, if the aformentioned men just had a genuine interest in the film, there'd be no problem whatsoever. Same here.

I don't think they should be on the sex offender's register unless you find them masturbating in the screening room. Then...yeah, go ahead and put em on there.

To be honest, anybody who's not a pre-teen girl (or pre-teen homo) who goes to see Bieber's big-screen self-endulgance without it being because they're taking a pre-teen person has an unhealthy attraction.

You pulled it out of context and put it on the internet where there is no vocal intonation or facial expression. Sarcasm is not something that translates well to the internet, so yes, you're going to have to explain it to people a couple times since you didn't clarify.

Can't believe I have to explain this...

Yep, fair enough. OP updated to make it more clear.

The Dakota Fanning one just creeps me out...

I do remember a Robot Chicken episode that called people out on the whole "Dude their legal now!" thing. I also could have sworn that there has been other criticisms but I can not remember any specifics.
That's still pretty far from mainstream. The people freaking out about how men would be 'branded as pedophiles' or 'shunned' are delusional. It's seen as pretty strange or creepy in both cases, but it's hardly something that's going to make you a pariah.
Gotta say that's wrong. Took my little sister to The Hannah Montana movie, and when I came back from the concession stand, an usher stopped me and tried to force me to leave. It drew a crowd too. If I couldn't have said "I'm here with my sister", I imagine things could've gotten bad for me. That was last year, so I wasn't even twenty at the time. So I'd expect things to be worse for a man in his forties.

If they liked the music I might not have a problem... but consider that a 40-year old man going to say, a Hannah Montana concert is considered "worse" than a 40-year old woman going to a Beiber concert?

Damn the double standard!

(And no, I have nothing against him either, I just despise tweenies and a society that promotes them)

I'm sure plenty of older and middle-aged women saw Titanic too, when DiCaprio was just a lad. What's the difference? As long as they aren't stalking the actual Justin Beiber and trying to lure him into a van, I don't think there is anything to worry about.

What an idiot. It's absolutely none of his business what movies other people see.
This.

I work at a movie theater, so I see all of this kind of stuff and it's all just "Who cares?" I see plenty of people come to see movies that are outside of their demographic and, according to some people, shouldn't be watched by them. Heck, there was an at least middle aged guy who came to see Tangled on Super Bowl Sunday and the only thing I thought was weird was that he came an hour late for the show, but maybe he was just bored and decided to come to the movie theater at whatever time to kill some time. Even just the other day, again at least middle aged came to see Gnomeo and Juliet alone. Does it matter? No, different people have different preferences and who really cares if someone likes or doesn't like something you do or don't.

That got longer than I expected it to.
Wait, a middle aged man going to see Tangled or Gnomeo and Juliet is wrong now, wha...? Movies like Tangled I will have no problem with going to even when I am in my sixties. I will never going to grow out of animations. And how again is that as creepy as older men and women going on their own to see movies solely about underage singing sensations? Did another social stigma appear while I was not looking?

Also Superbowl day would be just the best day to go as, the place would be empty. Same reason why I do a lot of stuff when important soccer matches are happening in the UK. Going for a motorcycle burn was brilliant when England were playing world cup matches last year. Not a car on the road.
