....da fuck!?!
who would let a game go on that long?
the losing team should win for not quitting...
I heartily agree with this sentiment. The coach and of the team that lost should be commended for letting his boys play on and finish the fight.

The winning team should not be punished for decimating the losing team. Both teams consented to the match, knowing how they stood before they entered.

No he shouldn't be punished, its not his fault the other team had no business playing basketball, no mercy rule bullcrap and let them soak in their complete failure.
Wow. You obviously have great sportsmanship, don't you?
Or, and this is just a thought, he has a different notion of sportsmanship than you do? I, for one, agree with him. Fight till the final whistle is blown, no matter how badly one is losing, or how spectacularly one is winning. That is what I call "sportsmanship."

Surely it would make more sense to set up some sort of rule whereby if a team is getting absolutely cockstomped they lose automatically to avoid some sort of incredible defeat like this?

You two are saying completely different things. You say you should keep fighting and never giving up. Tim is saying they should soak in their complete failure and that the other team doesn't have any business playing basketball.

Doesn't sound very motivational.

Oh, well then that's not very sportsmanlike.
