It exists here simply because the 3 last years of school are more often than not in a different school.
Meaning it's more a farewell ceremony than actual 'graduation'.

You think that's bad? I had a kindergarten graduation... Yeah, try and explain the logic behind that one @.@ granted its meant to be fun for the kids but honestly, I just find it kind of stupid now.

Up here in Canada, we have K-8, which is elementary school, then 9-12, which is high school. Seems a tad better than 3 separate schools, but with no experience in US schools, I can't say for sure.

I wouldn't call it much of a graduation (Here in Aus). More of a party and a free sticker or practice for receiving stickers later in life :p

My middle school had a graduation ceremony when it came time to leave there for me and the others. The way I see it, I guess it's the school's staff's way of saying good-bye and good luck to those who are leaving middle school and heading off to high school. After all, we're never going back there again and it's not like we're just going to non-nonchalantly leave the school grounds as if nothing has changed. We were going to high school after all and that's a pretty big step.

Although I can agree the diploma thing is probably unnecessary.

The American education system and its conventions baffle me sometimes.
Americans in general are baffling. They've no appreciation for a real measuring system and instead cling to their outdated relic from the mother country, PLUS they write the date in the most arse-retarded way imaginable. Humans AND machines have difficulty working with it.

Then they go and support the death penalty while abhorring abortion. One or the other folks.

Oh, and let's not forget what often seems like a nation-wide collective fantasy about a sky-person who doesn't want them to shag but does want them to send money to the nice man on the television.

Wait, you know what? The less shagging they do, the better.
What is it with the people on this site that likes to take a stab at America whenever they can? We're not perfect sure, but neither is anybody else on this planet.

Also not everybody here supports the death penalty and abhors abortion. We live in a country that allows us to believe whatever we want. Sure there are the collective assholes who demonize certain religions and lifestyles, *cough Westburo Baptist Church cough* but we're not all like that. I'm certainly not.

Problem?

We stab because your country baffles us. AS STATED. Perfection is not expected, but non-baffling antics would be preferred.

Also not everybody here supports the death penalty and abhors abortion. We live in a country that allows us to believe whatever we want.
Indeed, and the sky-fairy private club appears to have a lot of chapters about.

And it gladdens my heart to hear that, truly.

You mean the 24th of September, 2011. Or, just as logically, the 2011 year, the 9th month, the 24th day. 20110924. Now THAT is a completely logical system for both human and machine.

My middle school was grade 6-8, but I don't recall any graduation. I remember hearing about high school, getting a report card and then walking away.
