2 years is a hell of a long time; I'm against conscription. My country(ies) has a military that you're not forced in to. It's still pretty damn big & kick-ass. I considered joining up with the RAF, as I did voluntarily join the Air Cadets for a years or so. Since then switched my ideologies to the Army as for some weird reason they're the ones who fly the Apache helicopters.

Now, I've joined up at university and I plan to work under the SIS or MoD under IT/Communication Warfare (military hackers).

OT: You'll be fine. They get you moving and you'll feel good about the fitness training. Shooting a gun is cool too, trust me, but damn are they heavy. It's a real pain to have to work under some people you HATE but you just have to deal with it and everyone in your country would've been in your position at some time or another. As long as you don't wimp around everywhere and act normal you should be fine socially, maybe even make some new friends. It'll be fun sometimes and hard others & the pay is shit, but it's better than no pay at all.
Conscription does suck but it's not like it's the end of the world if you do it.
