I want to know if there has been any movie that you have seen that have just blown your mind or changed the way you think of the world.

My movies would be
The Matrix
Equilibrium

NOTE: I have just finished watching Equilibrium for the first time and that's why I am making this thread.

EDIT: oh wait I have another Apollo 13

Equilibrium was "cool"...but I saw past the Hollywood bull.

The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly
Seven Samurai
Reservoir Dogs (been a while, still awesome)

Other than that...I don't watch movies that much.

Mind-blowing, eh....

I guess 2001: A Space Oddessey would be up there, along with Children of Men (my favorite movie).

Huh. I feel like there should be more, but nothing's coming to me.

One of my favorite movies. I care more about the people who are in those situations now than I did before I saw that movie.

Pleasantville. So many underlining messages in it.

V for Vandetta. Just shows that people are sheep. They follow V, a person they know absolutely nothing about who demands that they follow him into battle, in a battle against the government which is comprised of people they know absolutely nothing about. Add that V, which complaining about the government being immoral TORTURES a innocent woman to prove a point. Gah

Empire of the Sun. So emotive.

Besides that, gotta be the Matrix, or Jurassic Park.

Except not.

The entire movie they show that the people are not happy with the totalitarian goverment and their forced religion. They felt small and powerless as individuals, but found a voice in one person willing to do something about the goverment. They followed an ideal, the twist was the ideal was pretty much bullshit with the plan to take down the goverment done for revenge and not for the betterment of the people. A good dead done for bad reasons, then in typical bullshit cop out ending he has a change of heart buys his line and decides it is for the people to decide. By that he means the women he indoctrinated to his cause. The torture aspect had nothing to do with proving his point. In his own twisted way he was attempting to help her be the stronger person she wished to be. Besides I think there is a fine line between torture and systematic poisoning of tens of thousands of people, along with the concentration camp style testing grounds where they tested on the population.

Edit: Need to watch Plesentville again but I remember it being good.

Would've expected someone to have Fight club and someone to have Boondock Saints, but both and nothing else, thats awesome. Wanna go kill bad guys?

"And Shepherds we shall be
For thee, my Lord, for thee.
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand
Our feet may swiftly carry out Thy commands.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls shall it ever be.
In Nomeni Patri Et Fili Spiritus Sancti."

Nice avatar btw

The Usual Suspects. It's the only movie whose ending I didn't see coming until two minutes before the credits rolled. The ambiguous storytelling is an artform, and because of this movie I'm willing to forgive Bryan Singer of everything...even Superman Returns.

I also think Collateral did a masterful job of creating a sympathetic antagonist. It was also a pretty symbolic struggle against chaos and order done very well, and very dramatically. And if you weren't moved by the ending, you're not human.
