Mindfuck endings?

Watchmen (movie, have not read the comic yet) was a nice little mindfuck, I can only imagined what happened to the world after that last little thing happened.

The entire Vanilla Sky mind fucked me so hard.

Saw it coming a mile away. They hinted at it the entire movie, and not in a subtle you watch it a second time knowing the ending and you see it way. They practically stabbed you in the eyes with the idea until your brains leaked out your ears.

I'm not talking about the subtlety of the "twist" if you would call it that. Does a mind fuck have to include a surprising twist? Is that like a rule or something?

I knew the twist to Vanilla Sky a few minutes in, it still was a mind fuck regardless.

F.E.A.R. 2's ending, I don't think I need to explain why.

What's there not to get? You make a ghost girl somehow instantly pregnant while inside a computer simulation while a nuke goes off. Simple.

End of Evangelion was quite a messed up ending. Donny Darko also had a messed up ending as well. So did Synecdoche, New York as well. All excellent films though.

No a mindfuck does not have to be a surprising twist, but it certainly does seem to help it to qualify as "Something that intentionally destabilizes, confuses or manipulates the mind of another person." Which is the definition of this slang term. I don't see how something obvious can be confusing, or disorienting, but hey that may just be me.

Yeah the Oblibion main quest ending was weird, but even stranger is the thieves guild mission ending. Also the Postal 2 the game and Postal the movie.[Postal is the ferelest movie... ever... in the history of the world.
