Minecraft 1.8 problems?

Okay so for those of you that don't know (probably not many) Minecraft 1.8 has been released!

So I downloaded it and started playing (as you do) and all of a sudden it barely runs on my laptop. And it was fine beforehand. So has this happened to anyone and more importantly does anyone know the cause/solution?

it runs fine for me when most of the world is rendered, but the lag caused by world generation seems to have gone a little crazy.

What do you mean by "barely runs"?

Mine crashes a lot since the update, but found the browser version doesn't at all. So if that's your issue give the browser version a try.

I found a lighting bug that makes all my paintings pitch black.

I swear to god I'm not gonna replace them if that's the problem, I got like 40.

My single player is unplayable now, Most of the people I have spoken to Have said that it has become incredibly laggy for them too.

Does seem to be running a bit weird since the patch, earlier after playing it for a bit I also got an out of memory error.

Mine crashes a lot since the update, but found the browser version doesn't at all. So if that's your issue give the browser version a try.

It's extremely laggy pretty much to the point of being unplayable.

It's fine for me, I'm just angry the new biome code fucked over my old map.

Yeah, today I updated it, (just so it was updated) and I found myself with 1-3 FPS when starting up a world.

Before I had somewhere between 30-50 FPS when starting up a new world...so, I don't know what happened, but you're not the only one.

EDIT: Well, it seems to be running better now.
I seem to be getting somewhere between 20-40 FPS now, so... I don't know what was going on before.

I don't have many problems, used across three different computers (two desktops and a laptop). All worked with good enough FPS and hardly any problems.

No problems for me so far apart from Endermen occasionally not attacking me when I look at them which to be honest isn't a bad thing.

its pretty good for me, i can play it with exactly the same fps as before tbh and before i had optifine on so is all good

I had some lag issues when generating the initial chunks, but after about 15 minutes it was running perfectly.

I do seem to get a few more shadow bugs than normal, but it's worth it for the beautiful new lighting system.

Mine's not anymore laggy that that normal, but it crashes now, something that I've never had problems with before. It doesn't seem to be crashing because of anything in particular, just randomly crashes.

Try re lighting the area they are in, I had a similar issue with random blocks not receiving light at all but then i took off the torch and put it back and the space was fine.

It lags for a short while when it's just loaded up, my chests sometimes lose their colour and become black unless I put a torch near them, same with the paintings but they stay black. That's about it for me, nothing game breaking.

My Minecraft is exactly the same. I haven't noticed a chance in the amount of lag,and I have yet to encounter any bugs

Mine runs fine and doesn't crash as much as 1.7.3 (it now has only crashed twice in the time I've played 1.8.X, which is a long time now). I have no idea what your problem is.
