I have started to notice that when I dig down in narrow shafts whilst exploring minecraft a feeling of uneasiness sets in, especially if the shaft is only one or two blocks wide decending vertically.

In my main living quarters underground I tend to have my area quite open, but that is not feasible when exploring to dig a tunnel at least 3x3.

What are your thoughts escapist? Do you find yourselves with fears of claustropobia or perhaps aracnophobia when encountering giant spiders? Perhaps acrophobia as you ascend high into the air when surveying the landscape.
no but ill tell you who scares the shit around of me.

herobrine. I don't know if he is real or fake but i am too scared to play single player ever again. Muliplayer only for me now.
Well Jesus. This just ruined minecraft for me... I usually only get to play late at night when the girlfriend is in bed, so there I sit in my dimly lit room, I have my PC attached to my 42" TV so it gets pretty immersive after a bit, but my only real fears were when I was mining and I'd randomly hear zombies and the such...
NOW I'M SCREWED.

Nothing worse than hearing "SSSSsss" in the dark, but the arrow sound from the skeletons in the dark comes a close second
Ahaha! I know exactly how you feel mate.

One time I found a pig deep within the bowels of my house. Don't ask me how he got there, needless to say he died before I knew what was happening. I was confused as to why a zombie just gave me bacon/ham.

There's a youtube video of Herobrine. Faked, obviously, but very unnverving. I haven't played a serious game of Minecraft since (well, I also broke my wrist so I physically can't play, but still, very unnerving video...)

In real life, I have a phobia of being able to move, but unable to move.... I don't know how to explain it really... I suppose it's claustrophobia, but I can go in elevators just fine. But ventilation shafts, tunnels, etc, no way in hell. I suppose I fear getting stuck or crushed and being unable to lift my arms to protect my face from something.

I've never really been tied up so I can't say if that triggers the same phobia or not.
I actually have this same problem. It's triggered the feeling of helplessness in situations where I have enough room to move around, but wouldn't be able to go anywhere or have full range of motion with my limbs or head.

For example, I had serious trouble watching the Mythbusters episode where Jamie gets buried in a coffin, because the thought of having that little amount of room to move and orient yourself terrified me.

On a similar note, one of the worst experiences I've ever had was being immobilized (seriously, couldn't move my head or body at all) on a backboard (the thing lifeguards use to move people with spinal injuries) as part of lifeguard training. I couldn't hear because of foam pads on my ears, I could see only the sky, and I couldn't feel anything around me. Not something I ever want to do again.

I'm afraid of heights, but Minecraft doesn't set it off for me.

I'm developing a new fear though. A fear of random hissing noises... coming from directly behind you...

I understand the fear. I got it a little when I first played. I still get it a little every now and then.

Once I found a dungeon... with no torches left... and only 1 hit left with a stone sword. I got lost, and was chased by spiders for a good 30 minutes. I've never gone into a cave system since with less then 2 stacks of torches.

If I'm sneaked up on by a spider or I forget about them for awhile their appearence scares me, especially the "TSSSS" sound they make and the way they flail after you..

It's a fake. I don't even play the game and I became interested, there is a topic on the Minecraft forums that references the site Brocraft that created this amazing forgery.

When I go into the Nether and hear the Ghasts soft moaning.

The first time I went in, I had no idea what it was, so I started moving towards the sound. About five blocks in, I hear terrifying screams. I was scarred like hell, and I thought it was something I did, I was literally saying "I'm sorry!" over and over again IRL.

Needless to say, I haven't gone back into the Nether since.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets the sensation of actually falling when I misstep and take a plunge in Minecraft. Last night I almost fell while building a bridge and I felt dizzy for a second. And I've had several moments where I nearly jumped out of my chair when a spider lands on my head as I'm coming out my front door :D. In some ways Minecraft is more frightening than games that are actually supposed to be frightening.
Crouch has pretty much eliminated this for me, I havent actually fallen to my death in a while.
Sage advice, thanks!

Yes! This is exactly how I feel. The worst thing that triggered it for me was crawling into a snow tunnel we had made as kids and having it collapse on me. Even though my feet were fully exposed I couldn't move my arms and my face was full of snow. I started screaming my head off for people to get me out, so much so that in their panicked digging they smacked me in the nose with the shovel and I got a bad cut there. But that's the exact feeling. I am uncomfortable watching any movie that has scenes like that, Kill Bill, Buried, etc... I can't use narrow waterslide tunnels either :).

I have acrophobia. Thankfully, it really doesn't play into Minecraft that much.

However, I find that finding dark, underground caverns in the game really freaks me out, even if I don't hear any enemies in the cavern. If I hear skeletons or spiders, hoo boy. That just freaks me out all the more. Hell, any monster cry while I'm underground. Not being able to maneuver well really makes one feel very cautious about their surroundings...
yeah its about the same for me.
Recently while mining a narrow strait tunnel i said "wouldn't it suck if i turned around and "sssssssssssss-boom".

i promptly left my tunnel and enjoyed a nice above ground frolic in the can-manuever openness of the overworld.

also please tell me your avatar is a moving GIF and i am not going insane
