It was my first abandoned mineshaft. And it was glorious. Iron and coal in abundance. Gold and Lapis just waiting to be dug up. And, then, as I got deeper that's when I found the stronghold that was attached to it. Awesome! After 2 hours of wandering and filling my inventory, I figured it was time to head back. That's when I ran into venom for the first time. All of it lost, including that last of my diamond tools.

I is sad.

The only thing that'll make me feel better is hearing other people's untimely death stories.

Full diamond armor, diamond tools, etc. Oh look, a small block of lava blocks my path. (heh heh, pun) Surely I can jump over this small path of lava. *jumps right into lava*

Yes this was all my fault, but hopefully it makes you feel better.

I made my first bigass tree house that took me two months of logging and three weeks of building. In the middle of furnishing the large fortress near the top, I thought that putting a fireplace was a good idea.

Needless to say, that was the last time I ever built a structure out of wood.

Sounds like you need to take it a bit slower, man. Run your stuff back more often, and keep bases and spawn points nearby. If you keep bases and spawn points close, you'll always have a place to run to, to dump your stuff, and you'll spawn a lot closer so you can go back and get the stuff before it disappears. The only time I've ever lost a significant amount of stuff is when a monster pushed me into a lava pit.

I found a mine shaft too, and I'm just taking it one path at a time. I carry as many torches as I can with me, and always look left and right after every wooden doorframe to check for intersecting paths. If there are some, I mark them with a torch and block up the path until I'm ready to tackle it.

So, on our multiplayer world, a friend and I are currently stuck in our reletively small house because there are three creepers sitting outside the door...

Not a huge FUUUU moment... but eventually we need to go get food..

Oh god. Your pain. I can feel it.

I did the same thing once. Soon as shit started to catch on fire, I started spawning in buckets of water and spamming it everywhere to put the fire out. Soon as I realized there was no saving it, I hopped down to ground level and looked up at my burning used-to-be home and the plumes of water sprouting from it and sobbed. I snapped a screenshot and sent it to my only other Minecraft-playing friend at the time, and he laughed for 20 minutes straight. I didn't really blame him.

1. Find massive deposit of diamonds.
2. Find another deposit of diamonds.
3. And another.
4. And another.
5. Obtain grand total of 25 diamonds.
6. 3 creepers out of fucking nowhere.
7. ???
8. Lack of profit.

Went exploring to reveal places on my first map. Had about 3/4 of the the area mapped out only to be killed by a skeleton and have no idea of where to look for it when I spawned.

Repeat 4 times and I gave up making any more maps.

I was mining with my friend on a server and we had a ton of goods, he wanted some obsidian and dug the block right below where I was standing. Needless to say we both died and lost our stuff. He in turn learned a valuable lesson.

I have a bit of an obsession with filling in the lava pits... there's no way that could go wrong. I once found a ton of diamond but didn't want to leave before filling in all the lava. I hit a block that I thought was safe and guess what was behind it. All subsequent attempts to retrieve my equipment ended in a fiery death whilst being laughed at by creepers.

Another time I was building my first fireplace in my online server with a friend. I thought I'd taken all the necessary precautions but apparently not. I saw the fire spread to the roof and rushed up there, extinguishing it by placing blocks of sand everywhere. My mate was up in his dirt tower at the time and gave me a running commentary on where the fire was spreading. I spent the entire night stopping that bloody fire from spreading. Needless to say I now am wary of putting wood within a five mile radius of fire.

I was doing basically the same thing, exploring a shaft, and this isnt a death story. but account frozen more like it. I went into a shaft with only 2 sets of wood tools. Looked at an enderman and had to delete world because like 4 were staring and if i looked away...FKIN HATE THOSE THINGS!!!!

I was on a multiplayer server with a volcano on it. There was also a block of ice there, so I decided, since I was bored, to completely extinguish the volcano and nom all the Obsidian I'd create with my Diamon pickaxe.

It went brilliantly, for a while. I turned many, many lava blocks into Obsidian blocks. I ended up getting 64 Obsidian.

Then I committed the cardinal sin of standing on a block while mining it.

At least all the lava in that volcano is still hidden beneath a carpet of obsidian, and the water is still flowing on the outside (making an awesome water volcano!), but my diamond pickaxe and 64 obsidian blocks? Of course not.

Did that today, except with about 200 free minecart tracks and a diamond. Except I dug down straight into a lava pit. Instakills on games annoy me. XD

I fell into a tiny cave just outside my house, got killed by a zombie and all my stuff glitch out of existence. 1.8 still needs fixing.

I have a massive FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUU Minecraft moment today.

I've been testing out Fraps for a while, toying with the idea of creating my own Minecraft: Let's Play! series. However, ever since the 1.8 update, my Minecraft will freeze without fail almost every 5 minutes, rendering my hopes and dreams of becoming a Minecraft star ruined.

I had 30 iron, 25 gold, and 15 diamond, I was heading back. And I fell straight into a lava pit I couldn't see. There was like, a 2 second fall time before I hit. And now, I repeat the OP: I is sad.

Agreed. Set up outposts everywhere. Dig them into cliffs. Make them inside mines. Everywhere outposts.

Same thing happened to me. Had the Lapis I was after so I went back to my tower. While I was digging up I dug under a lava pool and died instantly. I was lucky not to have much else. I didn't rage that much though. Still have enough Lapis to finish off the other 3 towers.
