I found an interesting article written, perhaps, by people who believe that Minecraft is actually a Christian game, from a site full of 'Christian Gaming' news, that has claimed that Tetris is promoting Communist atheism. While it sounds like parody, here are some excerpts:

'Minecraft uses procedurally generated worlds based on Intelligent
Design theory. Front-loading by the creator gives Minecraft worlds
specified complexity, just like the real world.

the goal of its creator (a programmer named Notch) was to teach Biblical wisdom.

Demons can spawn anywhere there is darkness, like at night or in caves. Torches keep this from happening, conveying the importance of light in a dark world.

Learn to combat demonic creepers with the Sword of the Spirit,
a useful life skill.'

While this seems to be reading entirely too much into things, what are your thoughts on the matter? In the off-chance that this isn't a parody/work of a troll, isn't it nice to have a video game that the Religious Right can support that's actually good?

EDIT: Reading through other things on the site, I'm increasingly sure that the whole site is a parody, albeit a well-constructed and spot-on one.

This must have come out before the Halloween update, considering you can now create a portal to Hell.

I'm pretty sure that website is a parody. I've seen their stuff brought up on here before, and I was pretty sure it was a parody back then. It does sound like it could be real, but isn't that the best sort of parody?

It's just a religious person who reads what he wants into something.
I am almost 100% certain that if you were to ask the creator of Minecraft he would say it was not created to teach people about the message of the Bible.

Ok, not sure if I buy it. There's certaintly no reason why Christians or anyone of any faith can't enjoy the game, I just don't think it was deliberately intended as a Christian game.

No. Notch even said he renamed Hell into The Nether because he didn't want an affiliation with Christianity. It's either a troll or people reading too much shit into something that has nothing to do with religion. Good troll, though. Entertaining.

Minecraft is actually a Freudian allegory for deflowering a woman. The virgin world is huge and mysterious, waiting for the Man to explore her caverns and reap the rewards. Of course, the Man brings with him his own guilty past. The Creepers represent the destruction of STDs, the Skeletons are jealous ex-lovers, and the Spiders are his self-doubt of his own sexual prowess. Thus, the Man must dominate the woman's world and bring in his own masculinity through the torches of male enlightenment and giant penis-shaped towers.
See, I can make shit up too!

Nah. Theres nothing biblical about it.
Unless you realize the fact that Notch IS GOD, CREATOR, AND ALL MIGHTY!!

Its one of those cases where people interperate things that wernt ment to be interperated. Its a game.

Theres nothing "chirstian" about it. Lights are there to stop things from butt-ganking you. End of story. Creepers arnt the devils spawn. ((though some think they are))

For raptor Jesus's sake! The only thing it has in common with the bible is the fact jesus is a zombie, and there are zombies in the game!

I'm pretty sure that's copy/pasted word for word from a well known troll site.
What Fred said.

Also note that it is quite easy to attach biblical parallels to anything revolving around darkness, redemption, creation, and et cetera. For that length, it is easy to find ANY sort of deep parallels to ANYTHING!
