This shit is hilarious! Some of my favourite quotes;
"For example, the player learns through trial and error to build his shelter on solid rock instead of falling sand, much as we should build our lives on the rock of Jesus."
"Torches keep this from happening, conveying the importance of light in a dark world. This makes the player more receptive to the good news that Jesus is the light..."
A damn fine review if I've ever read one.

utter bollocks, sorry.

I'm pretty sure that was not in Notches mind when creating this game (he hasn't mentioned anything). I think this is just a few desperate Christians trying different ways to try and spread the "word of god". And to be honest, it's not working.
It's NOT REAL. It's just a bunch of guys trolling religion.

Minecraft is actually a Freudian allegory for deflowering a woman. The virgin world is huge and mysterious, waiting for the Man to explore her caverns and reap the rewards. Of course, the Man brings with him his own guilty past. The Creepers represent the destruction of STDs, the Skeletons are jealous ex-lovers, and the Spiders are his self-doubt of his own sexual prowess. Thus, the Man must dominate the woman's world and bring in his own masculinity through the torches of male enlightenment and giant penis-shaped towers.
See, I can make shit up too!
Allright, stop it. The internet ends here! Well done, sir.

EDIT: Reading through other things on the site, I'm increasingly sure that the whole site is a parody, albeit a well-constructed and spot-on one.
Do not be too sure. Some of my misguided, albeit well meaning, brothers actually believe some of this stuff. I have not yet read the link but I hope they are making an allegory to the game.

Also, Minecraft is fun. Does it matter if some find their faith in it?

This website is a parody :p
Their pastor is listed as being named "Fred "Skeet" Hoskins", and he has an obviously fake mustache X)

Well that makes all games Christian, seeing as they all have an intelligent designer.

... Or a designer with some slight form of intellect at the very least.

*Facepalms at people of my same religion*
Wow. I'm a firm Christian, but I really dislike the people of my religion who give us a bad name. Namely, people like this. It gets annoying. I know there are christians like me who want some of the more "Out There" believers, and I know that they want to do something. What, I have yet to figure out.
God wants us to believe in him, but live normal lives. He doesn't want us to devote every single second of the day to him, but to recognize his existence, go to church, and pray. A bit further than that is fine, but there's a bit extra and there's overkill. Overkill is bad. Overkill is Fred Phelps. Overkill is people who try to develop symbolism in simple, fun games like this.
C'mon people, really?

Do not be so sure. I know a few brothers of mine from various churches that might go for this kind of stuff. I know a couple of family-first type groups who might also.

While I do not always agree with them, I understand where they are coming from.

Yeah, this site has been the subject of a couple of threads. I'm pretty sure its just a troll site, because it is just to plain stupid to be real.

Though, it does make for a hilarious read.

What am I suppose to think? Only Notch himself knows.
Should we nail Notch to some planks and see what happens?
No because then he won't make any new games. Lets try something that won't kill him, how about tell him that if he gets a hot chick drunk using only water he can have sex with her. Water to wine.

I found an interesting article written, perhaps, by people who believe that Minecraft is actually a Christian game, from a site full of 'Christian Gaming' news, that has claimed that Tetris is promoting Communist atheism. While it sounds like parody, here are some excerpts:

'Minecraft uses procedurally generated worlds based on Intelligent
Design theory. Front-loading by the creator gives Minecraft worlds
specified complexity, just like the real world.

the goal of its creator (a programmer named Notch) was to teach Biblical wisdom.

Demons can spawn anywhere there is darkness, like at night or in caves. Torches keep this from happening, conveying the importance of light in a dark world.

Learn to combat demonic creepers with the Sword of the Spirit,
a useful life skill.'

While this seems to be reading entirely too much into things, what are your thoughts on the matter? In the off-chance that this isn't a parody/work of a troll, isn't it nice to have a video game that the Religious Right can support that's actually good?

EDIT: Reading through other things on the site, I'm increasingly sure that the whole site is a parody, albeit a well-constructed and spot-on one.
Course it's a parody, Christians don't play video games!

[small]Right-wing Christians anyway[/small]

...

...

By the same logic I'm sure I could justify any game or movie to be a religious game.
