Minecraft...on the 360?

Just saw the announcement that Minecraft will be released for the Xbox 360.

I must say, didn't see that one coming.

Notch mentioned porting Minecraft a while ago. I'm sure you can use your current account seeing as ownership of the game is account based rather than download based.

Of course it's still being ported with Fortress Craft. The only reason Fortress Craft exists is because of Minecraft.

Good Xbox has been needing a new IP for a while, hopefully this will raise more excitement for Xbox exclusives.

Also, the Yogscast had some amusing things to say about the concept a while back, during their Survival Island playthrough [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyR0UcQN-1Q]. Iirc, Simon said he needed to take off his pants to milk a cow, hence the title of the segment, "You don't want to see me getting wool from a sheep!"

I'm curious what this means for the heavy mod userbase of Minecraft. If there's no easy way to port those over to the console version then I can envision a lot of people giving the 360 version a miss.

At least it will be better than fortresscraft. And as it's a console, mod support I'm guessing will be slim or none.
