I need your help, fellow Escapists! I've only got $25 left from graduation cards. Which should I spend the money on: Minecraft or Terraria?

What is this Terraria? Also probably buy the game that's finished sure minecraft is still a good game depending on taste but it's not done yet and I don't believe in buying betas.

if you like combat more, go with terraria

if you like building cool stuff more go with minecraft, because building in 3D is always going to be better than building in 2D

Havent tried Terraria yet, but Minecraft is one of my all-time-favorite games..

Minecraft has the big emphasis on building with combat being more a something on the side. You see all sorts of amazing creations people made on Minecraft but not really anything about slaying monsters

Terraria is more of a combat game with building elements. The 2D does not really allow for that much impressive structures, at least compared to Minecraft but there are a lot more monsters, armours, weapons, areas to explore, ect.

Can you not afford both games with $25?
How much is Minecraft now?

I'd go with Minecraft personally because I just don't like 2D games.

This comes down to what you want, Minecraft is better for building things while Terraria has exploring and adventuring down. There is just more to see in Terraria, it's just not nearly as fun to build things on a 2-d plane.

edit: damn, we sound like a broken record, that they said. :D

However in minecraft you can adventure and find amazeing sites...

For example this map is just a very very small pocket of the entire world in minecraft

Sorry its dark, Just took it at night....

I would say terreria has combat over minecraft...

And they are diffrent games....

Terraria is loads of fun, but only for a while. Once you reach the end, there's absolutely no replay value. The same goes for playing online. They plan to release more content, but that will only last so long.

Minecraft has more replay value, but it depends on you. If you don't want to build stuff, you'll get bored fairly soon. If you do have the drive, then you can have fun forever. Also, minecraft multiplayer holds up longer over time, and there are loads of mods available.

If you get minecraft and feel like playing online, check out escapecraft [http://www.escapecraft.net/]. It's a great server to play on.

Want action? Go Terraria. Also as the guy mentioned above, it gets quickly repetative.

Want building? Go MineCraft. However, if you're not the creative type, or don't want to play multiplayer, you won't have much fun.

Both games are quite cheap, you could try to buy both eventually.

Minecraft is $21.

And yes, people. I know they're 2 different games. They're 2 different games that I don't know which one I want more.

Oh, my bad.
Minecraft was $15 when I bought it, I assumed it had stayed the same.

Terraria for 20+ hours of single player content: exploration and collection/combat.

Minecraft for infinity[sub](the escapist doesn't know the infinity symbol)[/sub] + hours of single and multi player adventure, building lots of epic structures and dying to creepers that must've been invisible.

Minecraft.

Terraria is nice and all, but once you're finished, there's no point in playing.

You can never finish Minecraft.

Personally, I've had more fun with Terraria, but they are both excellent games, so it is really a matter of personal taste. See other people's posts for what I mean in that regard :-D

Dude, easy choice. The escapist let the developer that's creating minecraft win the march mayhem and they haven't created anything else yet. so buy minecraft I'm sure you won't regret.
