I'm just gonna stop you here... he's not "refusing" to do anything. He's said multiple times that he plans to do mod support, and is in fact currently working on it.

Guess you'll have to wait. Oh well.
Yes, wait 2 months for an update that's mostly mod content+1 other thing (oh boy, BEDS).
Funny thing is, If Notch rushed this game and it didn't turn out perfect, you'd be Ranting about how he Shouldn't have rushed it and how he missed tons of things that he could've added. How about you just be Patient and give Notch and the guys at Mojang a break?
The really funny part is how you brought out an entirely unrelated point and put words in my mouth about it, while not actually arguing the point of contention.

It'd be nice if they added some form of command system. So instead of having to slap a skeleton archer for the wolves to figure it out, you could aim at the archer and press a hotkey to send the wolves to attack.

A 'stay' command would be great too.

To be honest, I think they should implement a voice/command system like those in Left 4 Dead 2 and Fallout New Vegas.

So you hold say... X down, then move your mouse over to the command.

"Attack", "Stay", "Guard", "GET THE F**K OFF MY BED"

Probably not. I'll bet if you sic them on a creeper they just get blown up. That would be very sad.

I think it should work like this.

When you are right clicking on a wolf with something that doesn't effect them, like a sword or block, he stays; right-click on him again, he follows. Wolves will only attack hostile mobs that hurt you.

B: Awards ceremonies... lots of them.
For a game that ISN'T FUCKING FINISHED.

They're still there. And he still has to attend them.
No, he really does not. He could send a representative. He could say "no, I have a duty to FINISH THE GODDAMN GAME before accepting any awards for it." He could do anything besides delaying completion even more.

C: He's taking aquatics courses.
How is this an excuse?

The same reason I've suspended my LP until further notice... classes are freaking time-consuming.
But he doesn't need to be taking them to begin with, and certainly should not be giving precedence to such things over WORK.

Mojang needs to
A: Hurry the fuck up, or
B: Just release proper mod support because clearly modders can do better things with Minecraft anyway despite not being professionals with millions backing them.
No... they don't. You've already stated that you're more impressed with the mods than the devs, and they still work as is. You could always just download a whole whack of mods and pretend Mojang doesn't exist.
And I would be happy to, as they are clearly more competent, but Notch refuses to implement proper mod support or release source code, which actively limits modders and breaks mods every update.
Notch isn't your slave so shut the F*CK UP!

Oh wait, your just trolling.

Now, may I present, ladies and gentlemen, PROOF that we do not, in fact, need amazing future-gen graphics for a game to look amazing.

Holy. Crap. That looks awesome! I can't wait to unleash my pet wolves upon the evil cree- crap. That won't work, will it?
There's two ways it will work:

1. They kill it so fast it doesn't blow up.
2. You're ready to go find more wolves afterwards.
Or modders (Maybe even Notch will do it) let us put armor on wolfs :D
With it's own texture and everything

It would be awesome o.o

I have to admit this is a completely unexpected yet pleasant surprise. Nice to see a mob come up that works for you. Considering they are very silent in this vid, I imagine their sounds are still in progress. I'd give this two weeks from the article post before we see them, so other stuff is thrown in with the update as well. Heck of an April 1st present.

Wow, someone is a little impatient. Seriously, have you ever tried to make a game or code anything? It is far from easy, and with a ton of people like you demanding that he hurry up, it isn't any easier. People have lives outside of computers, you know. All these people that want him to spend every second his life on this game don't deserve to play it.
I can understand all that. However surely you can understand that when someone pays for something PRIOR TO ITS COMPLETION, with the promise the money is going towards development, a bit of regularity in that process would be expected, as opposed to announcements of 3 consecutive vacations and the inclusion of fanmade content with minimal official additions.
True, or at the very least keep a log of what he is working on.

And then said fanmade content is used to steal your password and hence your game you plunked your hard-earned money for. As Notch and others have give warning towards [http://notch.tumblr.com/post/3919992067/warning-some-malicious-client-mods-are-stealing].
I'm quite happy to be patient on this. This game only cost me $20 which is tons cheaper than most games put out these days.
Mods can be good, but when they can be used to maliciously steal other people's accounts, not to mention become useless after an official update which do show up at decent intervals, I am happy to do without them and trust in the vigilance of Notch and Mojang.
Keep in mind that Mojang did not have to release anything of Minecraft before its completion. They could actually revoke use privileges until its release. I wouldn't blame them with this recent buggery.

I do believe that Notch already does this. [http://notch.tumblr.com/]

If anybody thinks they can do better, they are more than welcome to make their own game. Deriding others because you aren't satisfied with the progress only makes you become the lesser person. There is a ton of forums and irc's [http://www.minecraft.net/community.jsp] which the crew at Mojang visit and reads regularly. If you have something to get off your chest, visit there. Give constructive advice, ask how things are going, and read up on what is getting done.
Meantime, enjoy what is available in the game that isn't complete yet. I do.

Modders aren't millionaires thanks to an UNFINISHED PRODUCT. Notch has slowed to a crawl with releasing now content, and often when he DOES release it, the new content is specifically stated to be mod content added to the main game (literally everything but beds in the last update were mod content).

Mojang needs to
A: Hurry the fuck up, or
B: Just release proper mod support because clearly modders can do better things with Minecraft anyway despite not being professionals with millions backing them.
Here's another thing;

there is a small amount of people working at Mojang when compared to the modding community. While the mods don't necessarily take a shorter amount of time to make, there is a wider range of people working on a wide range of mods. Because Mojang is a relatively small team, each feature they take on will slightly slow down the progress of other features, while the individual projects started by the range of mod teams won't affect each other, which in turn causes them to come out at a faster rate. This just means that that it will be pretty damn hard for Mojang to just "hurry up". Money doesn't give a small team the powers of a studio with 100 employees like you seem to ignorantly believe it does.

You TOTALLY misunderstood the meaning of that. I mean that he LITERALLY added mods to the game in the 1.3 update. The new lighting engine? Yeah that's not a Mojang product.

Also "let's see you do better" is now and always has been a fallacious argument.

Eh, I hate feeling like this, but I can't get excited over stuff I've had for quite a while due to mods. Mod support would be very nice, because I'm still convinced that modders are capable of making more out of a game than updates can. Not going to rage over not having it yet, but I'll be hoping for it more than anything else.

Seems a massive wall of holdups has set up right in front of Mojang, with vacations, award shows, and pretty much anything else imaginable. I miss secret Friday updates, but I guess it's unavoidable.

I quite agree with this. Mojang should stop implementing big new content right now, and focus on polishing the game up and launching it while people are still paying attention to minecraft. Once the media limelight shifts, it's not going to get nearly as many sales on launch as it would now. (though I will say the decision to sell the game over the last year has been a good one) Later, they can patch in New content as they please.

Is there a limit on how many companions you can have at once? Do Creepers activate around them? Do they attack only what you attack, or can they also attack what attacks you? Can they have more than one target at once? If they are not properly feed will they turn on you? Will wild wolves attack you? Can you name them? Based on the answers, I can foresee a war of epic proportions occurring under the cloak of darkness.
