I don't know if you guys can remember all the way back to...ummm March and this years March Mayhem. I was there and I remember watching with growing amazment as Mojang crushed everything in it's path becouse of Minecraft. Rather than complaine about It and sulk in a corner when they blew away my beloved BioWare, I made a mental note to try it out at some point and see what everybody was going on about and then in my own inimitable style totaly forgot about it. Today I am suffering from a life threatening dose of the man flu*, was up all night and decided to take the day off work. I was looking to buy a new game on Steam to pass the time but then I remberd Minecraft. One credit card transaction and a few Y-Tube tutorials later I was up and running. Over 12 hours later and I just turned it off. I have built a shed, a castle, a Moria like mine. I have run from Zombies, fought spiders and been blown apart by Creepers. I have to say I am totaly hooked. Not even tried multiplayer yet. Haven't been this way since my WoW adiction five years ago. Best £13 I spent on a game in ages. I know I am a little late to the party but just wanted to say thanks to the community for peeking my intrest in this one. Doubt I would have tried it otherwise.

Cheers.

*Man Flu is ALMOST deadly in 99% of reported cases.

Always good to see someone else discover the Dark Mistress that is Minecraft.

All glory to Notch!

dude, if you find a decent community, a good number of players, and an enforced "no grieffing" server, you are for the time of your life, you haven't seen the tiniest bit about minecraft

Meh. I'll still say Terraria is better. =P But either way, prepare to (almost) never stop playing Minecraft. Once you're in, it's almost impossible to get out.

Is there any connection between the Borg and Minecraft? I mean both utilize cubes...

Food for thought.

[sub]Yup, the Escapist community got me on board too. I love Minecraft but I still think Valve should have won... Mostly because that's what my bracket said dammit![/sub]

If Mojang won in March Madness it means they bear Team Meat. As a Meat Boy fanboy I am required by contract to hate Mojang.

So true. That is until you annoy the admin in real life then log on a few hours later to find your house of lovely blue and white wool has become dirt and all your stuff is gone -_-

I want Notch to add land ownership, where you can't place or break blocks on land you don't own.

Might set up a server anyway, with people who agree to those rules, and are happy to put up fencing around their own land.

Ah I liked Minecraft but it wasn't THAT great.

But if they manage to port it to android... holy shit. I'm going to fail uni.

I find SMP (Survival Multi-Player) to possibly be my favorite game of all time, even more than JA2, X-Com or Pirates!. I really liked Single-Player, but being on a private server with a couple of other friends really pushes your creativity. I came in about two months after the others started and really wanted to make something that was as impressive as their eloborate dwellings. I was a big explorer in Single-Player, but now I am a builder, farmer and quarryman.

We have a very friendly server where we leave presents for each other, it's nice, you pop in and find a cake in your bedroom.
