So, Minecraft.

One part LEGO, one part Wurm Online, one part Dwarf Fortress.

All parts addictive as hell.

We do have a Minecraft user group! ( http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Minecraft-Appreciation-Club )

What awesome things has everyone built in Minecraft?

I've not done too much impressive stuff, but it really is LEGO: the Game.

(Also: I have a Survival Multi server on the go.... every now and again. No domain yet tho, so just IP.)

I played that free version. Without all the making things and the living creatures. It was alright.

Playing the alpha. I built a MASSIVE house of wood boards, and accidentally set it on fire.

I'm very interested in the game, but I really don't know if I have the creativity to make the most of it. :(
You would be surprised. I surprised myself in that regard.

Especially if you find a good server, where you can sometimes even just help out on others builds. (I know someone building NCC-1701-A aka Enterprise from the first Star Trek movie.)

I've only played the free version, but it's pretty fun.

I would like to get the alpha, but being to young to have a job, and not getting a steady allowance, I can't, seeing as I'm gonna get Halo: Reach next week.

Can someone explain the game to me? I played it for free as a browser, and I didn't understand it.

What is the goal? I was on a little area and I could move, jump, and create/destroy blocks. That was it, is there normally more to it?

I love building mole cities and safe houses from L4D

What are the benefits of getting the full thing by the way?

The goal is to create something that your happy with, and yell at the people who delete said source of pride (Griefers). Its fun to just lose yourself in and let your mind just make something.

Friend of mine has been a Beta tester for it since it was first created, and yes, its basicly a "Creativity Make it yourself" game, you build things, brag about them, basicly =P

Keep in mind the game is still in alpha mode.
The free version is just like putting you in a world with infinite square lego bricks at your disposal. Fun for a while, but it gets old for me. The paid version, however, has the single player 'survival' mode, where you need to use materials you mine to make tools, to get better materials and survive against the zombies and skeletons and spiders and creepers that come out at night (Or, really, just come out of the darkness). THAT is freaking awesome, and I can't stop playing it.

I can't wait to see what else he'll be adding to the game, especially since he just started a proper company for it, allowing more time and energy to be spent on it. It's awesome, and more then worth the $13 it cost me.

I prefer the free version at the moment. Finally got around to playing multiplayer and it's the greatest thing in existence 8D

I still recommend buying the full version of the game, because Notch is a fucking amazing developer and adds to the game almost every week.

Survival mode is great, it's just a very different game to what you get for free. Free version is 3D Paint and Survival is shaping up to be an awesome full fledged rpg.
I'm the creaty type so personally 3D Paint does me just fine ;D

The other day I found a whole bunch of diamonds so I was happily mining them all until I mined one that was above a pool of lava. All the diamonds dropped into the red sea and I raged out loud.

Its taking a lot of willpower to come back to the game after that.

I bought it, and its probably the best 13 USD ive spent in a long time. i even spent like half an our creating my Dude from APB to put into it.
((yes, i know, APB was a pretty crappy MMO but i loved the character creation. Oh, and my free candy van with tri-tanium plating.))
