It takes time. Notch is not a studio he is one person. I can assume he has been working quite hard. His deadline is almost up and I believe he is very commited to this game.AndyFromMonday said:So they bought the game but did not get their promised updates? WRONG! *QI sounds*Saphiren said:DDoS: Deliberate Denial of Service.WOPR said:1) what does DDOS mean?
straight from the mouth of Notch said:"Distributed Denial of Service". Denial of Service means you occupy certain resources for a long period of time, making other people not able to use them. A real world example would be running up to the cashier at a super market and paying in small coins, counting every single one really slowly, then finding out at the end you didn?t have enough in the first place.
The "Distributed" means it's done from a lot of places at the same time, so it's much harder to simply deny access to the clients that do that. Usually this is done via computers infected with trojans, so people participate in this without even knowing they're doing it.
My thoughts exactly.Sneaky-Pie said:Whatever it is, it's an extremely selfish act.

plus Notch is setting up a studio to help him and updates more frequently than Valve. he also updates regularly and keeps everything running.EHKOS said:It takes time. You know what my response to this would be if I were Notch? I would shut down the servers completely and say "There! Happy now?"
Like I've said before, I can relate to their reasons. I'd be pretty pissed if something like that happened to me (fortunately, I don't care) and I would sure as hell have my revenge no matter the consequences. Rage and frustration can be truly fascinating and it's amazing at how they affect a humans ability to emphatize.Jaranja said:But they take it over the line by punishing all the other players.AndyFromMonday said:So they bought the game but did not get their promised updates? hes letting the server guys fix this while he keeps coding the next updates. good work notch!AugustFall said:There is an update scheduled in like 4 days isn't there? These people can fuck off he's only one guy.
Actually, there are 4 people currently working on the game. I can't remember where I saw this, probably on minecraft wikia, but it's definetly not just one person. Even so, he promised and people get frustrated when promises are not delivered. You shouldn't make promises you can't keep.EHKOS said:It takes time. Notch is not a studio he is one person. What updates did they get?vallorn said:get your facts straight;
they DID get the promised updates and more.
They bought the game at 50% off as it was still during development
Notch updates pretty often and there are plenty on unnoficial mods/updates if you get bored of waiting.

it's like a 5 year old with billions of dollars and access to a personal army... that's what Anonymous is...
and these people are acting JUST like Anonymous, even if they claim to not be apart of them
I didn't say he should do it, just that I would, because I'm an incredibly vengeful person.Tenmar said:That is just bad business for the creator of minecraft. He is putting down the only product that people are buying.Ironic Pirate said:If I was him I'd at least threaten it.
"If you douchebags do that again, no updates for anyone!" that kind of thing.
If anything his best explanation to win favor of the community is to explain that they bought the game at their own risk. That since Minecraft is in the alpha version means that the game was released a lot earlier than expected. This resulted in him having to work on the game towards a completed version at a much slower pace as now he has to deal with consumers ensuring the servers are up allowing people to play the game at the same time create and test improvements making Minecraft a better game than it is now.
