Shit takes time to make. And taking down the main game will make it take longer. The time he could have spent making updates he now has to spend getting the site back to normal.

It takes time. Notch is not a studio he is one person. I can assume he has been working quite hard. His deadline is almost up and I believe he is very commited to this game.

Actually, there are 4 people currently working on the game. I can't remember where I saw this, probably on minecraft wikia, but it's definetly not just one person. Even so, he promised and people get frustrated when promises are not delivered. You shouldn't make promises you can't keep.

they DID get the promised updates and more.
They bought the game at 50% off as it was still during development
Notch updates pretty often and there are plenty on unnoficial mods/updates if you get bored of waiting.

What updates did they get?
Is that supposed to be a plus? The game is in alpha. It would be insane to sell it at full price.

The thing they don't seem to realize is this will only bring forth a DDOS defense, taking time from game development and making their efforts futile.
And the second thing is, he has made several millions already, he could retire at this point and just switch it all off, maybe sell the game to a company and make heaps more money...

He does seem like a good person so I'm sure he'll stick to his word and end up releasing a game which most people would be happy with.

It's just these days I have little faith left in humanity.
