This is why the internet sucks. Stuff like this is illegal, but its nearly impossible to catch anonymous internet terrorists.
actually they said it wasn't anonymous, and lets be honest, they aren't terrorists, they only care about pirate related matters and things which impede freedoms such as censorshipAzaraxzealot said:THIS is why i call Anonymous a bunch of internet terrorists, when they see something they don't like, they DEMAND their way and destroy whatever is in their way to getting it.
it's like a 5 year old with billions of dollars and access to a personal army... that's what Anonymous is...
and these people are acting JUST like Anonymous, even if they claim to not be apart of them
lol xD My apologies, we all make typing errors from time to time. I have corrected it for yourself sir =PThespian said:You had a good point until you said "mute point"ChaoticLegion said:They are self-identifying DDOSers, how can you even start talking about Anonymous here? Dude, seriously. Whether or not the DDoSers can speak is totally a moot point.
yep. just checked and im not getting ANY server errors on good ol Firefox.... to bad i have college now X(Old Trailmix said:I can see this happening, over a week millions of people try and fail every day to buy the game. Finally the servers are back on track and Notch cashes out with millions.
And it's working fine right now.
dont blame notch. blame your Uni's Bullshit filter.Plurralbles said:well... because he's using Java I can't use it without the latest update... somethign I can't get because of my fucking internet connection behind a university bullshit wall.
Fuck you notch.
Pro-tip: DOn't rely on another company's software to make yours even remotely workable. You already have to rely on Apple and Microsoft to make operating systems that aren't shit... going with java just adds another layer of thigns that can go wrong.
Thanks for correcting me, but my point in my actual post was: These guys didn't DDoS minecraft because of updates, or payment, or Dissatisfaction, or anything like that. those are just excuses. they did it, because they wanted to and because they could! i mean, a lot of people are angry over a lot of Retail games that come out, but has Modern Warfare 2 or Halo ever been DDoS'ed. No because they are big companies that know how to protect themselves form these Low-lives. Notch doesn't have the means to protect himself like that. and these ass-holes targeted him because they wanted to Fuck something up for their amusement and Minecraft was just, unfortunately, an easy target!LightOfDarkness said:Actually, Mojang specifications now consists of 6 people but only 4 of them actually help develop the game.
It seems counter-productive, DDoS'ing the website of what you want updates for. Now Notch has even more to do, on top of keeping the updates coming, finding an office, more coders, graphics designers, reading the forum for bright ideas (100,000+ people keep suggesting stuff, there's gotta be a golden egg in a sea of bad, unbalanced ideas) he has to fix his website (or speak and work with the hoster to fix it)
Of course they have. Those "updates" are just progress in development. It's in the interess of the developer to progress from an alpha stage to a beta stage and eventually a full release.lacktheknack said:No, you can't. Not in this context. They've been getting a steady drip-feed of updates for over a year, the well has gone dry for a few weeks while he preps a massive update on Halloween that adds fish, new realms, new blocks, new enemies, new craftables... AND HE ANNOUNCED THIS TWO WEEKS AGO.
The trolls cannot redeem themselves now.
How many times do I have to repeat this? If you make a promise then don't be surprised when people get pissed for not living up to the promised expectations. And of course they can complain. They payed 10 bucks for alpha access with the promise of updates. They didn't get those updates apparently. The reasoning behind their attack is sound. If the devs knew they couldn't keep their promises then they shouldn't have made it in the first place and instead simply state that until a new update rolls around, there are always mods to consider. They did not do that.vallorn said:i can be bothered to look up all the updates but they've gotten a lot of stuff.
yes but these people bought it during alpha knowing that it needed updates then when they dont get them as fast as they want the throw a temper tantrum and piss everyone else off.
well that's their choice. they cant complain if they didn't look around for extras.
ok. first you misquoted. that was me who said the stuff in the second box.AndyFromMonday said:Of course they have. Those "updates" are just progress in development. Also, massive update? I wouldn't call it just that. Whilst it is a significant update that basically adds a new world and new monsters(with the new world being just a re-skin of the original) I wouldn't exactly call it "massive". Still, ike I've said before, don't make promises you can't keep.

I'd love to see that list. I mean, from what I've seen Notch made a promise he couldn't keep and that got people angry. This is completely understandable. And sorry for the misquoting thingy.vallorn said:ok. first you misquoted. that was me who said the stuff in the second box.
second. they got everything they were promised. notch drew up a list of updates and has met every single target.
Again, from what I've seen it seems that Notch made a promise that he couldn't keep. And more free stuff? You seem to forget this game is in Alpha. All that "free stuff" is just progress in development.vallorn said:they did get those updates but they wanted "moar fr33 stuph!!" so decided to blackmail Notch for stuff.
I don't support these guys. I said that the reasoning behind their attack is sound. And what reaction should they have had? Whine on the forums? That certainly always works, said he in a sarcastic voice. It's like when a president pisses off someone with power.vallorn said:your sounding like you support these guys. your reasoning is false and even if it was right DDOS'ing the site would be the wrong reaction to their discomfort.
I have looked at the evidence. Promised updates that didn't come resulted in frustration which boiled up and eventually exploded into a DDOS attack.vallorn said:fifth. you appear to have decided that thier reasoning is sound by reading their statement rather than looking at the evidence.
It's sort of hard to take you seriously when your grammar is terrible and you use terms like "unscientific". I'm sorry, that's just how you come off to me.vallorn said:this is an invalid and unscientific process.
I didn't say that. What the hell?AndyFromMonday said:How many times do I have to repeat this? Heh, of course, typos can't be helped. Pointing out errors is purely from a desire to be helpful... And totally not for personal amusementChaoticLegion said:lol xD My apologies, we all make typing errors from time to time. I have corrected it for yourself sir =P
It was a mistake. Sorry.lacktheknack said:I didn't say that. What the hell?
