When a menu isn't mouse driven or when the sensitivity of the menu is much higher than that of the game.

Going into the menu and it doesn't pause the game.

Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call

You've got your main character fighting alongside three demons (or less). If one of your demons die, no problem, just switch him out for another one in your party and then heal him at the Fountain. Oh, your main character died? Well, I guess that's instant game over for you then.

Now, this in and of itself doesn't bother me that much. The fact that you also have instant death moves in this game... Now that's just playing dirty - they could at least put in a homunculus item like in the later Persona games. (Yet I still consider it the third best RPG I've ever played.)

Payday2:
-some weapon mods only being unlocked by achievements.

Fucking achievements! I was told they were just for completists at first and I was paranoid for fearing they would become more then just simple immersion breaker reminders like steampopups but lo and behold, now I have to do achievements to unlock ingame stuff I'm keen on. FFS stupid achievements, everyone seems to love them to the point there are gamers actually enticed by the prospect of achievements as a selling point, how I despise them.

-Hosts being able to kick players on a whim. I've seen far too many troll hosts kick people on the last day of a job that took us a good 45 mins to pull because of very arbitrary reasons. Only happened to me personally once so far but that's one time too many, I try to host my own games when possible.

Mouse wheel acceleration. Sounds ridiculous but I hate it when I'm trying to scroll through a menu or whatnot and it always goes too far. Been playing Xcom again recently (trying to finish Enemy Within) and scrolling through my soldiers is always a hassle. I'll be at the top of the list one moment and half way down the list the next.

And it really bugs me when I can't minimize and maximize my game on a whim without it fucking up. Far Cry 3 was the most annoying offender, Skyrim is pretty annoying for me too because I have to maximize and then Alt+Tab to it for it to work. And it's prone to crashing when I Tab out so I have to save it every time too.

Dota 2 is the only game I've played that does the Tab out thing really well. I'm tabbed out right now in fact.

My huge gripe from "Call of Juerez: Bound in Blood" was the stupid ass duels. They are required to progress through the game, non-skippable and get extremely difficult. Not to mention they make no sense at all. By about the midway point in the game it's pretty well established that the two main characters are pretty awful people willing to do anything for Money, and yet, when you could just, you know, SHOOT somebody, you HAVE to do the stupid duel because reasons.

I really wish the people who made the game had realized how annoying and pointless they are and just put in a "Cheat" button for the duels. Sure, it's wrong, but so is robbing Indian burial grounds and the two main characters seem fine with that.

Tekken 6's custmization. Not only is it ridiculously expensive to buy anything, but the customization itself is a clusterfuck. In order to get a certain hairstyle you have to buy the corresponding base and three other pieces to the hairstyle and a lot of times i've had to go back and forth trying to find the right base for the right style. In an effort to make it in-depth they made it completely convoluted.

Healing mechanics. As a former EMR it bugs me all to hell when improper healing methods are used in "modern" games. You know what would be more effective then chess paddles in a war zone? Adrenaline shots, faster, quicker and since most soldiers are going to be dying of blood loss, internal bleeding and various traumas, not a irregular beating heart.

As much as I love BlazBlue the purple throws mechanic can fuck off. I hear they removed it from CP so there's something to look forward once I get around to buying the required PS3 because random exclusives lolololol

Basically the purples made you able you to throw while comboing the guy. Who thought thought this up?

I really like modern Bethesda RPGs, but their current obsessions with A) completionsts and B) GPS markers completely removes any depth from what should be immersive titles.

I really really super hate insta-death QTE's. I'm not sure if that counts as minor, but I really really super hate them.

In a more general sense, if a game has an overworld-esque aesthetic to its overall gameplay and ALLOWS the possibility to miss out on something to collect throughout its overall story (i.e. Jak 2 and South Park: Stick of Truth), then I will hate you with a passion... as I most likely replay said game because everything else was awesome and stuff...

Yeah... Minor, at best, but I still hate it to a "using a guide/wiki" degree...

Telepathic enemies - I'm currently playing Dishonored and it's a pretty cool game but it bugs that if an enemy spots you then it automatically alerts every enemy in the immediate vicinity even when it doesn't make sense. It's something that has always annoyed me in games not just Dishonored

The arena section of ZombiU...I didn't think the combat was as precise as the devs thought it was when they came up with that concept. It would have been fine if I would have been allowed to keep the damned Cricket Bat.

Why are their 5 babies in Mario Kart 8? What happened to the Kongs of Wii, R.O.B. of DS, Dry Bowser or, Dry Bones? Hell, what about Nabbit the Rabbit Nintendo?! Are you subtly hinting that we stop playing MK8 and make babies instead because that isn't going to happen Nintendo.

This was a big problem I had with Far Cry 2 and, Sniper Ghost Warrior. One shot, failed or hit and, everybody knows exactly where you are and are able to hit you with 90% accuracy no matter how far away they are.

it's not even really minor.. it's a major thing, but the trade channel in Path of Exile.
