More anti-runners.
I couldn't help but freak out when I heard footsteps behind me, all I wanted to do was RUN LIKE HELL. I also just thought it was pretty cool to get tazered and taken down instead of just getting shot at (though it still killed you, apparently).

Also more chase scenes. Jacknife was a fun level, although getting there was a little frustrating.

And for God's sakes, make Faith a little more durable. I get PUSHED and shoved away with a gun twice and I die, but I can take multiple bullets as long as I let her regenerate?
Of course, more focus on the story as well. More contact with other runners (Celeste was the only one you ever really interacted with) and they need to make her seem more like an actual runner. Actually delivering things sometimes so we know in-depth what they do and why they needed to be taken out.

Oh god, it's like GoW (God of War) and GoW (Gears of War) all over again.

From what I played, I would make 4 suggestions.

1- Less linearity. It seemed like there was only one way to go in most parts.
2- Free Roam. Make the mission structure more like a GTA game, where you have missions start a specific location, and this can even allow for multiple missions to be taken; this can be added to by having a branching story. So you start out normally, but you can eventually get to a point where you have to chose a faction to join.
3- taking into what I said previously, a less stupid story. Maybe this is just me, but Mirror Edge's story just seemed bland and characterless... kind of like the clean environment.
4- and again taking into what I just said, add some more life to the place. It looked sterile. I think it would add to the gameplay that you didnt have the only parts of buildings and such which you could use to be the only parts that are colored.

5(this might be just me)- add some kind of free roam multiplayer, maybe something like 30+ players. For the game modes, instead of deathmatch and such, their would be more parkour like modes (I always think if you can do parkour, tag and tag capture the flag would be something ppl would do.)

6(I originally only thought of 4 when I started :p)- Either improve the mechanics for guns, or remove them completely.

I wanted to love Mirror's edge badly. Unfortuneatly it suffered from the same issue I had with Bad Company 1: Bad controls (except ME controls were much worse).

Why would a game that requires split second timing and reactions, assign 10+ moves to one button? Honestly, 99% of deaths were caused by the game thinking you wanted to jump instead of wall-run or visa-versa.

So, better controls.

I think it would be cool to have more epic roof chases like in the first level and imagine that level where you were being chased by those runner super soliders and had to get to a long walkway only at the top of the skyscraper, I also like the idea of the combat system feeling more acrobatic imagine if you could use cops for doing like half jumps so you are being chased by the cop and you run along a walk away and there is a cop blocking it you jump into the air plant your foot in his face and back flip off him and some sort of flying judo throw to the other guy chasing you. ALSO NO FREE ROAM the fun of mirrors edge is running around along a path where everything has been set up for parkour if they made a free roam city it would look retarded.

KEEP the 1st person perspective - don't throw it out for 3rd person, or it will ruin the game. The immersion in fast running and jumping is what gives the game such adrenaline.

However, it would be cool if there was a "camera view" or "cinematic" button like when you drive in GTA IV so I could see her move from a 3rd-person perspective, and hit the slow-time button too. I'd also like to be able to have a replay button to see some of my runs again.

The story has to be better, explaining more about the totalitarian world Faith lives in. The city has to feel more alive, not just a backdrop. We have to care about what she's risking her life for.

Obviously, more stylish cutscenes.

Everybody knows the combat/disarming system has to be better. Too clunky and inefficient. I don't want to slow down to fight, I want to jump onto a Blue's chest, do a 90 degree turn and jump to the next roof while he goes crashing backwards through a window.

Take out the frustration - I got fed up with some of the puzzling "how do i get out of this room" stuff. I hated dying 20 times trying to string together the same series of moves. I probably would have stopped playing if I hadn't got the help of a walkthrough guide. A hint button, maybe?

Keep that music and design style - fabulous.

It's all about freeflowing speed and taking risks; running your ass off. And I loved disarming and then throwing guns away - it was like, "I'm so badass I don't even need this" - so although I want the combat system improved, I don't want to be able to do hardcore runs with a gun.

Capture the Flag multiplayer.
^This. Brilliant idea.

If it is possible, free roam (assassins creed can do it fine, why does Mirrors Edge have to be any different?) and improve the fighting system+improved plot and characters. On their own, the fighting and the story is decent, but it could be better.

Edit: As the guy above me says, more depth in the urban environment. Faith is obviously passionate about the city she lives in, she makes it clear in the cut scenes- so the player should be as well.

Less combat (and even less guns), better writing, more rooftop gameplay (I don't want to start on the street and climb around a fucking air-con unit so that I can hop a fence), no animated cutscenes, a more interesting protagonist, less annoying side-characters.

And don't make me stop during the middle of runs to turn a valve.

And online racing, not just against player ghosts. And that would need more expansive maps, especially if you've got races with multiple people.

The fixes the game needs are pretty easy to do, and yet the last we heard of Mirror's Edge 2 they were discussing whether they should have more or less combat. WHAT THE FUCK?!
