Mirror's edge on steam is currently $5.00 but I can can get a PS3 version preowned from EB for $13 (maybe) and so I'm wondering, which the better option

Please note: I'm a console player, I PREFER for the most part to lay back on my couch and play PS3. I have a PC and I will play with it but my preference is the PS3

So which has better controls and does anyone know if its likely to carry over save files\trophies from mirror's edge 1 to 2

Edit to add: sorry didn't finish that thought, please don't turn this thread into another "PC vs Console" thread

Barely anything has been confirmed about Mirrors Edge 2 so it's impossible to say. I have the Xbox 360 version and I think it's far better played sitting down on the couch with a controller. It's worth noting that I also purchased the PC version on Steam a while back and it still to this day refuses to launch. I'd go for the PS3 version.

How come it's $5 over there and £7.50 here? Wtf?
It's $10 around here. Dunno what the OP is talking about.

OT: I prefer the PC controls, but that's just because I find the increased speed and precision of aiming in first-person with a mouse much better than using a controller. I do believe that people who have problems with the game's controls are usually playing on consoles, but a lot of people who love the game own it on consoles as well, so... I suppose it's probably just down to personal preference.

I doubt there would be any sort of save transferring to the next Mirror's Edge. It's not a sequel and the only games I've seen that do that in the first place tend to be RPGs.

I played it on the PS3, I honestly thought the controls worked fluently there. Sure aiming is going to blow balls, but Mirror's Edge isn't about aiming and shooting. Control scheme is a little different and weird, but you get used to it real fast.

But try going for the cheaper deal, you can still hook a 360 controller up if PC controls are bad.

If you prefer having it on a console, buy it for the console. I bought the PS3 version over a year back for like $10 new, I'm sure there's a better price for it than $13 used. I absolutely loved the game, best 3D platformer this gen in my opinion. The controls are great and you can up the camera sensitivity quite a bit if you need to. There's not much shooting in the game anyways, there's even a trophy for not firing a gun the whole game (which I actually did on my hard difficulty run). Running up to an enemy and sliding in for the disarm, then promptly dropping the gun to run up to the next enemy (instead of shooting him) is so badass.

PC version plays better. It may be a platformer but it's first person and it controls better with a Kb&M. At least that my experience with it. I am a PC gamer and while I do use a controller Kb&M is what I'm most familiar with.

But if you would prefer console get that. Steam is cheaper but it's not hugely expensive either way.

Well I bought it and rage quit already. GOD DAMIT after falling down the drain for the 10th time and restarting behind that red door I was seriously considering smashing my controller through the TV screen

I'd say that consoles (so in your case PS3) have smoother controls than PC especially on games like this.

Although Mirror's Edge doesn't have good controls anyway, so I'd go with the PS3 just to make the pain more bearable.

Can you use a controller with the Steam version? Because if so then that's what, problem half solved.
I believe you can use a controller on the PC with it, but check first. If so, I would advise you to do that as for the price you are getting much more potential content with mods and such.

Stick with it, Mirror's Edge is a really great platformer (the genre is almost dead), you're probably making some stupid mistake over and over again.

Neither is the better option. It's a terrible game on whatever platform you choose. It stands on record as the only game i've returned to the store to get a refund because of how shit it is.

I think the game would work better with a video game controller than a keyboard, just the way it is as a free-running game. So unless you can get a controller hooked up with the computer get the console version, considering that's what you're used to. Especially if you're a console gamer.

You see, the game works best i feel if you intuitively know the controls, because when you're freerunning you don't really have time to think about what button you need to press. You had to make a snap judgement and hope you can jump the gap. Hence maybe why they called the lead character Faith.

It is a game with a number of flaws- disarming moves only seem to work in slomo, the game universe lacks development, the plot is rather straight forward and linear and the first person camera feels clunky at times. Yet it's also very endearing as a game, i love it's originality and it is quite a lot of fun and damn there are some hellishly tense moments when you're being chased. I've replayed the game at least three times. I'm quite exited for Mirrors Edge 2 because there's so much they can improve upon from the first game.

Don't be put off by the games flaws and play it for what it is- a free running game. And for the love of god don't try to play it as if it's an FPS!

Well, depends what your more comfortable with. I think it works quite well with both a gamepad and K+M but I've put more time into the 360 version due to a 6 month separation from my rig.

I know nothing about Mirror's Edge 2 beyond that it will eventually exist.
