I was surprised to hear they're doing a new series, but unlike other shows of a somewhat similar nature that really hit the shit by their fourth series (alright there, Skins?), its remained great. Love Rudy too.

A friend of mine reckons Simon (and possibly Alisha) will come back, which I'd be inclined to agree with, if only because they'd need at least one new cast member (assuming Seth bumps up to a lead).

I agree the powers could have been better - I think they're just wary of backing themselves into a corner. Curtis' time travel, for instance, would presumably become easier to control, and so its harder to write in any danger in if he can rewind all the time.

Alisha's actress has confirmed she's not coming back, in the short term at least. As for Simon... I just don't see it. Not sure how they can justify him coming back given he's gone back in time solely in order to die there. (Unless they pull something out...)

I think the main reason they got rid of the powers was they were running out of material to do with them. Every episode in this series seemed to revolve around one particular power, last series was very much a Villain of the Week affair...

Stupid Ontario broadcasting selection, I didn't even know they renewed it for a second season, I thought it got canceled.

I really wish they expanded more on Rudy's split personality a bit more than they did. The first episode with him in was brilliant and I was hoping they'd expand more on him trying to surpress his gay side (and there is one because the first time he's shown his other half mentions it). I thought on the whole the episodes were strong (especially the one with the comic book guy) but the finale was a little bit of a let down.

This is coming from someone who has just started watching it so I can't comment on the absence of the curly haired guy.

I liked it but I've got no idea where they're going to go from here. Did anyone else think the throat slitting scene was one of the goriest things they've seen on tv though? I'm pretty desensitised and it really shocked me.

Season 3's powers all sucked! You had Simon's see randomly into the future, which never helped at all (hey Alisha, don't walk out the door ...)

Alisha's look through peoples eyes, which was used once to help.

Kurtis could change sex

Kelly was super smart

Rudy had an emotional clone

Compared to the previous ones, immortality, invisibility, reading people's minds, rewind time and the only sucky one was Alisha's "if I touch people they want to shag me" power .... everyone wants 1 the first 4 powers, they are like the big powers that 90% of people would pick.

I think they could easily break the loop they are now caught in though,
all Simon has to do is stand on the roof where Christian girl dies and choose 1 of the million ways not to let Nathan push her off the roof. Fucking easy! She then couldn't be revived and go on to slice Alisha's neck.

It seemed to me this season was much less about powers.

Lastly, how long did it take to record this really short series? Like 6 months? I never had time to really get into it, it seemed to be over before it began. They have skins which has like 50 episodes a season, hollyoaks which is never off but they can't make 20 episode seasons for misfits?

Why is good telly so short on season but crap telly goes on for fucking ever?

No. She's a "fooking rocket scientist". It's not the same thing. She always was intelligent and perceptive; behind her brash exterior she's often been the one to notice things and figure out things others didn't. The power is being super smart, plus a massive intuitive knowledge and ability with physics, chemistry, engineering, electronics, computers... all the skills a real rocket designer would need. You see it when she's fixed cars and overridden alarm systems.

You think about what she could do with that. It's a brilliant power.

It's not a power though, that was my point.

I know her "power" was a rocket scientist but any electrically trained person could do what Kelly has done so far, well except for the first episode when she was kicked out of a meeting ... that rocket kicked ass but a small fix on Seth's car and shutting an alarm down isn't exactly pushing her power.

You're correct, she was not using it to its full potential, but imagine what she could achieve if she did. It's the sort of power you need to grow into!

It's still not a power, it's like the matrix ... somebody filled her head full of electrical know how, like how somebody filled Trinity's head with how to fly a helicopter.

How would that power translate into misfit troubles? Build an anti power machine to make a storm to make all powers disappear? Not much of a series after that ...

I think the entire idea behind the show so far is that these people were gifted with useful and amazing powers but didn't care to use them. They then decided to sell these powers for immediate profit and as a result, lost a member of the group and came to the realisation that they could have done more with their gifts. Upon returning to get more powers they discover only the least useful powers have been left available.

It's typical chanel 4 irony.

I, however, would love to see Future Simon uncover the mysteries of the storm and leave information behind for the rest of the gang to discover in, perhaps, a time locked vault in the lair, and there can be clips from each time period showing how the collective group get to the bottom of it.

Of course the show would have to take on a more serious role, something I feel would be controversial.

So, now that Misfits series 3 is over and series 4 is in the production process, what do people wanna see in series 4?

I hate the current powers of the gang and wanna see them take on something new.

As for our American friends...I dunno if you've even had this programme aired over there. If so, I'd like to see where you are and what you wanna see in the following series or if you have a remake or the original english version?
As an American fan of this show, first let me say: "DO NOT MAKE AN AMERICAN REMAKE!"

They *never* get them right, and even when the remake is successful (The Office), it's not the same. And usually, it's shite (to borrow the vernacular).

Thanks to the wonders of the Internet, I've been able to watch this show. It's never "aired" here that I know of.

And as far as what to see for the next series (or "Season" as we call them here)... I would love to have more of an exploration of Kelly's power. Increasing dissatisfaction with her old "world", inability to move into the new one she can glimpse... I think that could be an interesting arc.

Pull something out like him not being such a fucking idiot and diving in front of a bullet he could easily have prevented? It's not like he didn't see it coming, he's come back from the fucking future! Why not just make sure it never happens? Sure, the future might change, but honestly how much would be different if Superhoodie battered the GTA guy and then disappeared forever?

And how exactly is that not a power?!

She has an innate understanding of electronics, without having to learn or study. She can look at them and understand how they work despite previously knowing shit all about it. That's like saying that Nathan's immortality isn't a power because "they just do it naturally"

To steal Yahtzee's naming convention I would've called every Misfits episode thus far "Oh,no, more faffing about!"
You're right about the powers, if I were to make a superhero show I'd make the appearance of some fucking superpowers my priority. It's a joke that they actually swapped their abilities and they're still about as much use as a triple cunted hooker on the day they legalize pot.
So series 4, hows about the show stops bieng the new Heroes whose only saving grace is the dialogue and characters that are more likable than that guy from 300 with the pierced nipples.

Do what naturally? People don't do a Jesus and rise from the dead all the time, you know?

It isn't a power, a power would be something like you learn at an insane rate ... like johnny 5 from short circuit reading a book. At the moment she is no better than a savant, it's a gift not a power.

No, but it's not something he uses, is it? It's something that happens to him. Like Kelly's rocket science, it's a passive ability - she can't stop herself from understanding machines just like he can't stop himself from resurrecting.

The power isn't just the knowledge, it's the understanding. That's why she can look at new and unfamiliar machinery and figure it out almost instantly, with that weird purple highlight to show she's using a power rather than just remembering it.
