I've never really experienced this, but I think that the D-Day landing scene in saving private ryan with the Benny Hill theme song over it would be about as out of place as you can get. You know the song.
PFFFFFFFFF!!! All I did was imagine that scene with that music and couldn't help but laugh... Hell I'm STILL laughing. Well done ;) We'll go to Hell together

The reason it didn't fit in Watchmen is because it was during a sex scene.

A rather raunchy sex scene.

No version would have fit, despite the lyrics working well.

I didn't think Supermassive Black Hole was THAT out of place.

I can't remember where 15 Step was played...

I can't think of any movie that had songs that didn't fit but what was that one movie where a bunch of vehicles came alive and started to attack humanity and it's entire soundtrack was AC/DC?

I can't remember the title but I saw a action movie with Queen in it. WTF is up with that?
You mean Highlander. Queen were perfect in that film.

I have never seen a film with music that didn't fit. Buth then, i mostly watch cheesey westerns and old war films XD
I can take it a step further, Queen wrote the soundtrack for Highlander.

(sigh) Just an inexhaustable font of useless facts... I should be on game shows instead of lurking in threads like this trying to impress everybody ;)

Leonard Cohen's version of Hallelujah in "The Watchmen", it's an adequate song but his version just didn't sit right.
That was alright for me. It captured the awkwardness of the moment well. The one that seemed out of place for me was 99 Luftballons. Great song, but distracted from the scene.

That was Maximum Overdrive, yet another Stephen King book turned into a crappy movie

Not sure if its on topic but I had a hatred for the opening tune to that new Bond film, Quantum of Solace. I think its 'another way to die.' I was really disappointed because when I heard Jack White was involved in the writing of the song I had high hopes, but it was shit. It just felt incomplete, trashy, or unpolished.

Yeah, even AC/DC regretted letting their songs on the sound track.

And I really like 15 step too... Great.
You sir, have a fine taste in music :)
I threw a fit (literally) when i heard it was in twilight. Im still unbelievable pissed about that. Imagine Destrokk by the MGMT in a thriller move. I've never seen it, but it would be really dumb if id did happen.

Which scene was that again, I can't recall it.
Near the ending per chance?

I hate the fact I know most of the words to that song.

Kenny Loggins. Possibly the most 1980s person in the world. For proof, watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vORYIaKiD_4 A true masterpiece of the 1980s music video.

That song, don't remember what it was, I think it was Hendrix, in Watchmen during the shot where the camera zooms out to show the smiley face on the surface of Mars.
I realize that the lyrics were in the book at that point, but the music itself totally ruins that moment.

Actually, it does fit. That song is all about sex. "Remember when I moved in you, and the Holy Ghost was moving too"? Sounds about right to me.

A gay song with a gay scene, what's out of place?
When am I gonna learn not to be drinking liquids when I read through threads like this? (Wipes tea off of monitor)

Besides, what's so gay about a bunch of shirtless men playing volleyball to a song called Playin' With The- oh yeah, right.

I watched the Death Note live-action films (which were, surprisingly, quite good). Yes, I'm a nerd.
Someone explain how you can have a cat-and-mouse detective vs. criminal story with DANI FUCKING CALIFORNIA playing over the credits and expect to take it seriously?!

I remember watching Stormbreaker (terrible, terrible movie), but they were in a military training course, and Feel Good, Inc. started playing. It just felt so out of place.
