I have this bad habit of saying "aunt" Auh-nt. Mainly because half my family's from Boston. I still refuse to pronounce it like "ant".
That just means you're pronouncing it correctly! :D

Coelacanth.

I've prounced it (Coal-a-canth) for my entire life.

I'm pretty sure it's actually pronounced (seel-a-canth).
Truly, it is a crazy-ass name. But yup, "see-la-canth" is right.

I often hear "cavalry" and "Calvary" mixed up, as in:

"Here comes the calvary".

And I'm thinking, What, a hill near Jerusalem is about to arrive??

I say controversy differently then my friends.

Cont-traw-verse-ee

I know other people say it like that, but it's different in my area.

And I love your name, OP.

While reading the books of the Song of Ice and Fire series, I always pronounced the name Jaime as JAYM. Then my friends told me it was JAY-mee. Of course, my friend had a similiar moment when I told him it was spelled Jaime. Apparently, he'd thought it was spelled Jamie the whole time. He was very surprised to find out that he'd read the name wrong for what works out to roughly 4,000 pages (4 books).

Not really, every time I learn a new word I make sure that I'm pronouncing it correctly. I do this to the point where my past English teachers have told me to stop worrying so much (however, being a major English buff, I can't help it). The weird thing is I'm usually always correct on my pronunciation of words, but this might be because I was taught to spell words by sounding them out, so that enabled me to pronounce them after I had spelled them.

I sometimes have trouble pronouncing Apocalypse. Stupid word, making me look stupid. Also, there are some very stupid girls at my school who believe that Ramen is pronounced Ray-men. I say they are stupid because they refuse to listen to the voice of reason. I could make them watch every episode of Naruto and they would still think its pronounced Ray-men.
