I'm sure most of you have already heard about the controversy that Miss California(or whatever her name is) had brought up. After giving her honest opinion at the Miss America Pageant (I believe it was) on same-sex marriage, she was attacked far and wide by the gay community.

"I believe marriage should be between a man and a woman, no offense to anybody out there, but thats how I was raised, and thats how I think it should be. Between a man and a woman."

Perez Hilton, one of the judges whom was supposed to be impartial, took great offense to this, being a gay man himself, and was so outraged, that he posted videos of rants and blogs about this quote in question.

How do you all feel about this? And is Political Correctness being taken too far? What Politically Correct things in society can you not stand today?

I feel that she has the right to say this, not only because she is just answering the question honestly, but because she isn't forcing it onto anyone else. Also...where is Freedom of Speech? She didn't direct this at anyone, she just said what she felt.

She still has her crown or whatever it is after a week or so of controversy, but do you see what one thing can be blown out of proportion into?

She has the right to say what she wants but she's still an idiot. You don't insult the people that are voting for you if you want to win something.

She wasn't being politically incorrect. Being politically incorrect means making fun of everyone and not taking the prim and proper manner of dealing with race and sexuality so seriously. She's just uneducated and unrefined. People in America have had the right to say whatever stupid crap they want; that's our right, apparently, has been for some time.

And Perez Hilton needs to stop being so defensive and go back to doing what's best for everyone all along: being a flaming stereotype nobody ever cared about. The California bint will either go on to be a one-hit wonder and then marry a homosexual preacher or...no, that's definitely what's going to happen.

I support Miss California! She gave her own opinion, and it was honest. Perez Hilton obviously expected an answer, and had a tantrum when he didnt get it.

When will gay people understand that marriage is a CHRISTAIN concept, the same religion that promotes straightness and finds homosexuality to be some sort of sin. The contestants answer was perfectly logical.

had Perez (which is an absurd name btw) asked 'can gays be civilly unionized (or whatever its called)?' then her answer may have been different.

And I have the right to call her a closed-minded bigot in response.
So, Obama is a closed-minded bigot?

to elaborate on what Frank is saying here, "Flamewar imminent!" and I agree wholeheartedly with him. The topic is about the appropriate of the statement itself, not the meaning of the statement, not how the statement affects us, its whether or not someone should be allowed to say what they think in a venue like this. Please try and remember that

It's a ROMAN concept. Christianity just put more of a ceremony to it, and less emphasis on the actual sale.

Maybe I would consider this a big deal if I actually gave a damn about what these people think.

Seriously, she's not the president. If some garden variety homophobe said the same thing no one would make a big deal out of it. Yet the second this tart makes one ignorant comment everyone blows it out of proportion.

I agree. As much as I support Political Correctness, the real problem are the bigots calling other bigots for their own ignorance. I am 100% supportive of gay unions, but not marriages if their religion be it, Christianity/Islam/Judaism/Hinduism/Pokemonism are against it.

That same book also says that you shouldn't eat shellfish and wear mixed fibers.
And by your logic I wouldn't be able to get married since I am not Christian (I am Buddhist, since the ten commandments say that "thou shalt not have any other god before me".

Political Correctness has got nothing to do with it, that's just an excuse. The fact is, if you're trying to win a BEAUTY PAGEANT, you shouldn't bash homosexuals. That's just stupid. It would be like if I tried to get a job at Apple and I started bashing Macs.

I applaud her for having the fortitude of principal to voice her honest opinion. I don't necessarily agree with what she believes, but like Voltaire said:
"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
